Our Story

Guiding Generations. Grounded in Planning. Built on Trust.

At the Connecticut Yankee Group, our mission is simple: to help clients make confident financial decisions that endure across generations. Since 1976, we've provided thoughtful advice, deep personal relationships, and strategic planning rooted in experience. Today, we are a multigenerational team with a long view—committed to delivering clarity in a complex financial world.

Our story began with Allan Jay, who built this practice on trust, education, and long-term relationships. After starting his career in 1976, Allan joined E.F. Hutton in 1980—remaining through a series of mergers that ultimately became Morgan Stanley. Over the decades, he's become a trusted advisor to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, foundations, and institutions. As a Certified Financial Planner™ and holder of a Master of Science in Financial Planning, Allan brings clarity to complexity and applies decades of firsthand experience navigating markets. His consultative approach is grounded in education and enriched by access to the full intellectual capital of Morgan Stanley.

Allan now partners with his son, Brian Jay, CFP®, who brings a modern lens and strong planning discipline to client relationships. Brian leads the team's planning efforts—developing dynamic strategies that help clients navigate life transitions, manage wealth across generations, and align their financial lives with their personal values. In addition to core financial planning, he helps clients take advantage of Morgan Stanley's platform, including access to private equity, private credit, and real assets to strengthen portfolio diversification. Brian's long-term vision is to serve families through every generation and every stage of life with steady, proactive guidance.

Paul Greatsinger, CFP®, a Marine Corps veteran and MBA graduate, joined the team in 2006 and works alongside his wife, Ginny Greatsinger. Together, they form a dedicated client service team that delivers disciplined, relationship-driven advice with a focus on integrity, attention to detail, and continuity. Whether they are guiding families through retirement planning or helping the next generation take ownership of their wealth, Paul and Ginny bring experience and personal connection to each relationship.

At the heart of our team is Helaine DeVore, who has worked alongside Allan for over 35 years. Known for her exceptional client service, insight, and warmth, Helaine has helped shape the experience that our clients value and trust. She remains an essential part of our client relationships to this day.

Together, we offer a comprehensive range of services—from investment management and estate planning strategies to lending, philanthropy, and multigenerational wealth transfer. Above all, we are committed to understanding what matters most to you and building a plan that supports it—not just for today, but for the years and generations to come.

Your Path to Financial Clarity and Confidence

Financial planning is more than just numbers—it's about understanding your life, your goals, and building a strategy that grows with you. Our process is designed to uncover what matters most, provide thoughtful guidance, and empower you to make confident decisions through every life stage. With a clear structure and personalized attention, we help you turn complexity into clarity and planning into progress. Here's what you can expect from our six-step financial planning journey:

    Icon Image
Step 1: Getting to Know You

We begin with a conversation focused entirely on you. In this first step, we explore your values, lifestyle, and long-term goals to understand what financial success means in your world. Whether you're thinking about retirement, building generational wealth, or navigating a career transition, we take the time to understand your priorities and concerns. This relationship-driven approach lays the foundation for a meaningful and lasting partnership based on trust, transparency, and shared purpose.

    Icon Image
Step 2: Discovery and Data Gathering

Once we've established your goals, we gather the details needed to build a full picture of your financial life. This includes reviewing income, assets, liabilities, investment accounts, insurance coverage, benefits, and estate planning documents. Just as important, we explore the context behind the numbers—such as family dynamics, lifestyle preferences, and legacy intentions. We also assess your comfort with financial risk to guide investment and planning decisions. This comprehensive discovery phase ensures we develop a strategy that fits your life, not just your balance sheet.

    Icon Image
Step 3: Comprehensive Analysis and Evaluation

With the data in hand, we conduct a detailed analysis using advanced tools and professional insight. We evaluate your current financial structure in relation to your goals, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. We model various "what-if" scenarios—like market shifts, income changes, or major life events—and stress-test your plan to ensure it can adapt under pressure. If needed, we collaborate with outside professionals such as tax advisors or estate attorneys to bring specialized expertise into the process. This step provides the strategic clarity needed to move forward with confidence.

    Icon Image
Step 4: Plan Presentation and Recommendations

Next, we present your personalized financial plan, built to reflect your goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon. We walk you through every key element—investments, cash flow, retirement projections, tax strategy, estate planning, and more—explaining not just what we recommend, but why. We answer three essential questions: What should you do? Why is it the right move? And what will it cost to implement? This collaborative session ensures that you understand your options, feel confident in the strategy, and are fully engaged in the decisions ahead.

    Icon Image
    Step 5: Implementation and Action

With your approval, we bring the plan to life. This step involves taking clear, coordinated actions—adjusting investments, updating insurance coverage, optimizing savings strategies, and implementing tax-advantaged solutions. We handle the logistics and timing while keeping you informed every step of the way. If necessary, we coordinate with your other advisors to ensure everything aligns seamlessly. Our goal is to make the process efficient, smooth, and focused on real progress toward your financial objectives.

    Icon Image
Step 6: Ongoing Monitoring and Support

Financial planning doesn't stop at implementation—it evolves with your life. We provide continuous monitoring to keep your plan on track, along with regular reviews to adjust for life changes, market conditions, or new opportunities. Whether you're changing careers, receiving an inheritance, or planning for a new goal, we proactively adapt your strategy to stay aligned with what matters most. Through consistent communication, timely insights, and personalized support, we stay connected to your financial world and committed to your long-term success.
