Meet The Calandro Group

About John Calandro

Working directly with clients since 1979, John has long dedicated himself to developing a “walking in their shoes” appreciation of their personal passions and pursuits. John believes the key to his success is his personalized approach. Methodical and scientific in creating retirement planning strategies, for example, he accounts for clients’ overall wealth and health, personal concerns and family situations, while providing a detailed (but simplified) plan for taking distributions, and considering issues of estate planning (working with clients' attorneys and other specialists). As John proudly says, “We design income strategies that seek to provide predictable and sustainable retirement income.” John feels personally rewarded from the satisfaction clients express and the referrals he’s received to friends, family members and business associates.

John received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and continues to root (loudly) for the Spartans. John believes passionately in giving back to his industry, community and those less fortunate. John is a past president of the North Texas Chapter for the International Association for Financial Planning, he is an annual participant and past president of the Park Cities YMCA Fund Drive and, for the past 18 years, he has provided guidance and coaching to young adults through one of his passions, the sport of soccer. John’s efforts have resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship money being raised for students, who, in many cases, would not have considered a college education. In his free time, John is a trainer of English Labradors, a member of the Dallas Gun Club, previously served as the President of the Texas Sporting Clay Association, a member of the National Sporting Clay Advisory Council, and a “master-class” sporting clays competitor. John and Kim (his wife of nearly 30 years) have three children.
