Meet The Bridge Group

About Me

In his capacity as a Family Wealth Director in Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management division Scott works with accomplished families and their advisors.  He is insightful, discerning, and sincere in his commitment to stewarding family wealth, understanding discipline and focusing on value.

As a designated Family Wealth Director, Scott is one of the few financial advisors recognized by Morgan Stanley for his experience and knowledge in providing comprehensive wealth advisory services to the firm’s most affluent private clients and corporate executives. Scott has displayed a sophisticated approach to the management of significant wealth and is able to offer his clients access to an exclusive suite of Family Wealth Advisory Services. Scott has limited the number of clients in his practice so that he and his team can spend more time with each client and deliver outstanding service.

In 2016 Scott was recognized by the Financial Times as one of the top 400 Financial Advisers in the country.   The Financial Times cited that these “Top advisers take a holistic view of a client’s financial needs, looking beyond just investments … keeping their clients focused on long-term financial goals, rather than on the latest tweets,”  Scott continues to be humbled by the honor. In addition, he is considered by his peers to be an authority on the municipal bond market, and his clients have found that this knowledge, forged in the credit markets, has proven immensely useful when turned to the equity markets and other asset classes.

Scott began his wealth advisory career in 1986 with Drexel, Burnham, a predecessor firm of Morgan Stanley, shortly after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics from Beloit College. This classic yet unorthodox education provided Scott with an ability to understand and deal with both complexity and change. He considers this ability an essential part of his process in guiding clients.

In addition to his dedication at work, Scott is active in his community.  He continues to work with New York City’s homeless and is on the Board of “Heights and Hills,” a social services agency whose mandate is to promote successful aging in the community.  He lives in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn with his wife, Katie, and their two children, Max and Jane.

About Me

Focused, methodical and deliberate, Adam understands the power of precision and importance of consistency in managing the uncertainties of both life and markets.  Adam believes the devil does indeed reside in the details and thus takes a conscientious and rigorous approach in working with his clients to help preserve and grow their legacies.

Adam brings to The Bridge Group at Morgan Stanley extensive experience in both investment management and wealth management.  From the time he began his career at Citigroup Asset management in 1998, Adam has served as a portfolio manager, assisting clients with their investments.  Adam practices a deliberate approach to portfolio management by first understanding a client’s unique needs and then creating individualized investment solutions.  He has deep experience in each stage of the investment process, including asset allocation, portfolio construction and manager selection. Over time he believes that a disciplined process, complemented by the control of behavioral investment pitfalls, increases an investor’s probability for successful outcomes.

Adam also brings an inside perspective on tax management.  Adam thinks the impact of taxes on investment performance is under-appreciated, and investors need to pay greater attention to after-tax returns. In 2008 in a previous role with the firm, Adam and his team created a specialized tax overlay within Morgan Stanley’s Unified Managed Account program.  This tax overlay enables clients to coordinate tax-sensitive trading across multiple managers within a portfolio, which is designed to help increase performance of the portfolio.  Adam continues to work with clients to optimize their after-tax returns, stressing the old maxim - it is not what you earn but what you keep that truly matters.

Adam cares deeply about his clients and values his relationships with them.  He knows that markets will continue to be volatile and unpredictable; and he therefore takes great pride in providing something he can control – a distinctive client experience and dedicated guidance through the decision making process.

Adam earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Haverford College and his Master of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham Business School. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, Charlotte, and their children Claire and Graham.  In Adam’s free time, he can be found with his family, skiing, biking and taking photographs.
