About Us

Managing wealth has become both more sophisticated, and more complicated. Certainly, we have more information, more evidence, more refined analysis and more intellectual capital available to us than ever before. But all that comes with greater demands – more choices, more complexity, more potential problems… all at a time when most people would rather focus on living their lives, not worrying about their money.

The Bolder Group was created to serve people who want both more… and less. We combine the most sophisticated wealth management tactics with a passion for helping people live the lives they choose. We believe in making complicated things simple for our clients. Our clients believe in evidence, intelligence and the power of the human intellect… they look for experience, credentials and integrity… and they expect to be treated with care, honesty and respect. We invite you to explore our web site and see what WE believe in when it comes to wealth management and client service, and discover for yourself if The Bolder Group is the right wealth management choice for you.

Clients

  • Who We Work With
The team at The Bolder Group has been helping people manage their wealth for decades. During that time, we have noticed that clients and advisors often self-select – clients choose (and stay with) advisors who fit their needs.
  • Our Clients Include
Entrepreneurs: Many are intensely focused on their business, and want comprehensive, attentive service. They also like our emphasis on risk, which they deal with every day.

Finance Professionals: Highly knowledgeable, they expect effective wealth strategies, proven investment tactics and a global economic perspective. They understand emerging ideas like behavioral finance.

Health Care Professionals: This industry is complicated, changing and faces an uncertain future, so experience is key. With their science background, these clients appreciate evidence-based advice.

Retirees: Retirees have both a short-term (“Will I have enough?”) and long-term (“What can I leave?”) perspective, which dovetails with our long experience with institutional clients. Plus, they require a comprehensive wealth management solution that encompasses philanthropy, trust services, cash flow and other considerations.

Women: A traditionally underserved population, women value an advisor who listens, answers her questions and understands the demands of her life. Our co-founder, Sarah Porter, is an industry pioneer, one of just two women in her recruitment class of 110.

Our Four Pillars of Wealth Management

Every client is unique, every circumstance is different. Yet at The Bolder Group, our observations and decades of experience have revealed some core ideas that we believe are applicable to every client. We call them our Four Pillars of Wealth Management.
  • Pillar 1: Focus On The Big Picture
First, we make recommendations that reflect our client’s goals, and are based on a defined strategy. Second, because investing doesn’t happen in a vacuum, our recommendations are filtered through a macroeconomic view.
  • Pillar 2: Money and Emotions Don’t Mix
Human beings routinely make decisions that are neither evidence-based nor rational. The emerging field of behavioral finance posits that human decisions are emotionally driven, and based on inaccurate biases. With this in mind, we help clients make the right decisions for the right reasons.
  • Pillar 3: There Are Two Sides To Every Story
Investors tend to focus on return – but every investment also carries risk. We evaluate our recommendations for both potential return and risk. We also calculate a risk factor for every client based on their goals. Everyone loves a great return – but inattention to risk can prevent you from reaching your goals.
  • Pillar 4: Believe The Evidence
A global leader like Morgan Stanley has experts who study the world of finance with scientific rigor. When something works, and we see the evidence, we use it. A good example is a reliance on asset allocation – appropriate asset allocation can, all things being equal, have the greatest impact on the performance of your investment portfolio.

An Institutional Level of Service

The advisors of The Bolder Group have significant experience working with institutions, such as endowments, foundations and hospitals. We’ve adopted many of the demands of institutional clients into our service model for individuals and families. For example:
  • A Family Office Approach
Institutions expect an advisor to provide bold yet thoughtful advice on every financial decision. The family office model means we can provide comprehensive wealth management that is both informed and reflective of your overall strategy.
  • Knowledge And Education
Even the most seasoned institutional investor needs to work with a board of directors who may not share their financial sophistication. Similarly, individual clients may have family members who need our help to understand their financial landscape.
  • Simplicity
Institutions often require complex investment strategies, but prefer to keep decision-making simple. Our approach – Sophisticated strategies, simple choices.
  • A Trusted Relationship
Institutions need to trust their advisor for frank advice, frequent and lucid reports, financial transparency and personal integrity. As your financial advisor, you can depend on The Bolder Group for this kind of relationship.
