We work with clients across a variety of different industries and understand each of our clients’ unique goals. Our goal is to allow our clients to focus on the things that add value to their life, and less time focused on the day-to-day aspects of their finances and investments.

Our managing partners, Craig Benell and Charlie Benell, have over 40 years of experience in the wealth management industry. Craig and Charlie’s experience and relationships, alongside Morgan Stanley’s resources across the private bank and investment bank, allow The Benell Group to create tailored solutions for each of our clients.

Our team takes pride in our unwavering commitment to provide exceptional service to our clients. Our approach to service excellence is rooted in a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and objectives. In addition to leveraging Morgan Stanley’s resources, we coordinate with our clients’ attorneys and CPAs to assist in all aspects of our clients’ financial needs.

About Craig Benell

Craig Benell is a Private Wealth Advisor and Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. Craig holds the Family Wealth Director and Senior Portfolio Management Director designations. He has provided wealth management advice and services to affluent individuals, families, and business owners since 1984. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Craig was a Private Wealth Advisor at Merrill Lynch.

Craig is a graduate of the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional. This designation is awarded by the Certified Financial Planner™ Board of Standards, Inc. Craig also holds the Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM®) designation.

Craig lives in the Pacific Palisades with his wife. He is active in his community and serves on the boards of charitable and philanthropic organizations. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, surfing, and skiing.

About Charlie Benell

Charlie Benell is a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley. He provides comprehensive wealth management services, including equity and fixed income management, alternative investments, financial planning, estate planning, and lending, to individuals, families, and business owners.
Prior to becoming a financial advisor, Charlie was an associate within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. While an associate with Morgan Stanley, Charlie focused on portfolio analytics and financial planning.

Charlie started his career at KPMG as a consultant within their M&A and business valuation group. He advised companies in the technology and renewable energy industries on mergers and acquisitions.

Charlie graduated from Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M, Charlie was a member of the Men's Golf team where he was on the Southeastern Conference Honor Roll and received the Southeastern Conference Community Service Award. He earned his Masters in finance from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. In his studies, Charlie specialized in corporate finance and investment management. Charlie resides in Los Angeles.

About Megan Kobata

Megan Kobata is a Wealth Management Associate with The Benell Group at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2015. Megan began her career in the financial industry working for Countrywide Capital Markets selling fixed income products to middle market financial institutions. After five years in the business, she decided to attend grad school where she received her Master's in Social Work from Boston University. She spent four years counseling families and children before deciding to combine her financial and psychology backgrounds and make the move to Private Wealth Management. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional. This designation is awarded by the Certified Financial Planner™ Board of Standards, Inc. Megan lives in Pacific Palisades with her husband, two children and two step-daughters. She volunteers with Team In Training coaching and mentoring participants as well as doing her own training to complete marathons, half-marathons and Ragnar Relay races. She enjoys running, reading, snowboarding and spending time with her family.

About Bunny Halter

Bunny Halter is a Senior Client Service Associate with The Benell Group at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. She has provided wealth management client services since 1980. Bunny began her financial services career with Merrill Lynch in Cleveland before moving to Los Angeles. Bunny oversees multiple administrative and operational initiatives. Her years of experience in addressing the needs of affluent families and her exemplary service ethic make her asset to the team. She fosters enduring relationships with clients and their extended family members. Bunny resides in Redondo Beach with her husband and their two dogs. She enjoys cooking, baking, gardening, and taking advantage of her beach community.
