Our Story

At the Bell and Stillwater Group at Morgan Stanley we believe the best way to keep your financial life on track is through a long-term approach to financial planning and investing. Whether you are planning for retirement or seeking to ensure a multigenerational family legacy, our process focuses on your specific timeline and goals. We measure success by your ability to meet your goals.

We are a highly experienced planning and advisory team. We begin each client relationship by navigating through our financial planning process. We don’t talk about specific investments until we know where you are now, where you want to be in the future, and how to get there. Our goal is not only to understand your goals and objectives, but to uncover and address potential obstacles you may have overlooked. After we have completed this process and you are confident in your plan, we are then able to suggest investment solutions we have vetted through extensive analysis and believe are appropriate to help you achieve your goals.

Our team has over 100 years of investing experience. We have been through the ups and the downs, and are confident in our long-term approach. We are committed to providing you the highest standard of care and to always put your needs ahead of our own. We pride ourselves on our client service model which puts you at the center of attention. You can expect frequent dialogue to keep you informed on your financial picture and around new proactive ideas for your plan. Should you ever need to speak with us, it will be with a real person, and we will be available in a timely manner to address any questions or concerns.

Having a plan is vital in potentially reaching your short term and long term goals. This will allow us to track our progress and determine if we are on track or off track of reaching those goals. Not only will a plan allow us to track our progress, but it will help me understand 4 very important questions:

1. What’s important to you (Goals)?
2. Over what time frame do you want to achieve these goals (Time Horizon)?
3. What risks are you willing to accept along the way (Risk Tolerance)?
4. How often do you want to hear from us (Ongoing Review)?

See the below content for some topics and conversations that are often overlooked in developing your financial plan.
The Connection Between Insurance and Retirement

529 Plans: A powerful Tool to Save for Education Expenses
Education costs have continuously been rising over the years. With the increased cost of higher education, it is important to start to save and plan for the future earlier. The earlier the savings plan starts, the less your loved ones will need to borrow to help achieve their goals and dreams. Please see the below article for more information about 529 Plans.

    Thinking About Your Legacy?
You unfortunately cannot take your life’s hard work and wealth with you. Setting up a trust is a great way to help the people you care most about. Trusts are often misunderstood as they have many working parts. Give this article a read to learn more about what your options are while creating a trust.
Why You May Need a Trust
We believe everyone deserves a plan
Financial Planning is not just for the ultra-wealthy, it is for everyone. Knowing where you stand currently, and where you ultimately want to be in the future, allows you to make smart decisions to help grow towards your goals. Everyone deserves to have all the information available to them in order to make informed decisions now, for the future.
We believe that diversification is critical to reducing risk
Most investors already know this, however it is often the first rule we see broken. By trying to keep up with an arbitrary index or investment, we see portfolios tend to get more aggressive and more concentrated over time. As time passes, this often ends poorly. Risk can be potentially mitigated by committing to diversification through market cycles.
We believe in looking for blind spots
It’s important to know under which circumstances you may experience short falls. Knowing what could happen under certain worse case scenarios can help prepare you for unforeseen consequences. By preparing for these blind spots, we can make appropriate decisions to help mitigate negative consequences.
We believe we are a team
Your financial strategy is holistic and involves many moving parts. It is important to include attorneys, CPA’s, and other family members if necessary. Together, we work towards a common goal which is your financial picture.
We believe money is a tool
Your plan consists of very real and personal goals. The success of which will have an impact on the lives of the people you care about most. It should address the goals you hope to achieve and the risk of outliving your assets. Your plan should consider risks beyond market movements such as inflation, interest rates, incapacity and long-term care to name a few.

*Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protection against a loss.

7An investment in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor’s ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) before investing. The prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF. To obtain a prospectus, contact your Financial Advisor or visit the ETF company’s website. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing.
