About John Barnes
For his experience and dedication, Jack was ranked among the top advisors on the 2024 Forbes list of “Best in State Wealth Advisors” for Connecticut.
Jack grew up in a household focused on finance. After graduating from Hobart College, he worked in the institutional bond industry in Manhattan, including a five-year stint as a Corporate Bond Research Analyst. It was during this experience, that Jack earned his M.B.A. from The Stern School of Business at New York University. In 1998, Jack joined Morgan Stanley for the opportunity to share his institutional knowledge with individuals and families and build more personal relationships with clients.
Throughout his career, Jack has developed advanced skills in portfolio management, asset allocation and fixed income investments. His passion has always been to help his clients fulfill their financial goals. He takes pride in helping them oversee and manage their finances, so they may enjoy the wealth they have worked so hard to create.
Originally from Chicago, Jack and his wife, Eleanor, currently live in West Hartford. They have two grown children, Marshall and Cricket. Jack’s favorite leisure activities include spending time with family, being outdoors and playing squash and golf.

About Ethan O Reid
In 2008, Ethan earned the distinguished CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) designation, demonstrating his commitment to helping clients address the complicated issues facing today’s wealthy families. He takes pride in his ability to put advanced financial planning concepts into action and works diligently to demystify the investment process by deeply understanding his clients and articulating the key activities needed to help achieve their specific objectives. Most importantly, Ethan focuses on creating trusting relationships with his clients to help them simplify their lives, so they may pursue their passions and enjoy the wealth they have created.
Ethan began his career in 2000 with A.G. Edwards and moved to Morgan Stanley in 2006. Born and raised in Hartford, Ethan graduated from the University of Connecticut and now lives in Glastonbury with his wife and three young children. He currently serves on the board of High School Inc., a four-year college prep school for Hartford Public School students who are interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industries.
Ethan was a former board member of the Hartford Insurance and Finance Academy and is past President of InterCommunity Inc. When he’s not working directly with clients or actively volunteering, Ethan enjoys spending quality time with friends and family. Favorite activities include coaching and cheering for his 3 children’s sports teams.

About Eleanor Barnes
Upon graduating from Washington & Lee University, Eleanor began her career at CNN Business News in New York City. Five years later, she was a proud recipient of the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship, studying Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University, and earning her M.B.A. a year later. In 1996, Eleanor joined Money Magazine’s New Media department, working in product development. After taking a few years off to raise her children, Eleanor re-entered the workforce in 2007 with a focus on fundraising for nonprofits, including The Ethel Walker School and the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.
She joined her husband, Jack Barnes, at The Barnes-Reid Group in 2014 for the opportunity to share her knowledge with clients and continue to help enhance the client experience. In 2020, Eleanor earned her Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation, the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning from the CFP® Board of Standards.
As a CFP® and Financial Advisor, Eleanor enjoys deeply listening to her clients, so she may truly understand their values, wishes and goals for the future, and get to the heart of what matters most to them now and in the future. This information then serves as the foundation for the development and implementation of a custom financial plan that can be adapted to respond to changes over time.
Eleanor’s passion for working with her clients is equaled only by her dedication to her family and community. She is on the Board of Directors of the Hartford Golf Club and on the Board of Directors of Seabury, an affiliate of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut. She is also an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, serving on the Stewardship Committee. Eleanor and Jack have two adult children, Marshall and Cricket. In her leisure time, she enjoys running, hiking, yoga and golf.

About Charles Frederick Walz

Prior to a career in finance, Chip spent seven years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy serving on three different destroyers after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy with Honors in 1993 (Awarded Frederick L. Sawyer Prize in Economics). Served six deployments, including five to the Persian Gulf region. Recalled to active service for nine months following September 11, 2001. Active runner, sailor and triathlete, completed numerous marathons and half Ironmans. Chip is married to Erin McAvoy and they have three sons, Quin, Nate and Alex.

About Amanda Dibble
Growing up in Coventry, CT, Amanda learned firsthand about finance from her mother, who taught her the importance of managing money and saving for the long-term. While attending the University of Connecticut, she began taking courses in economics and finance, confirming her decision to pursue a career in business. Amanda earned her B.A. degree in Business Administration in 2017. She then pursued her education further at the University of Hartford. It was here that she earned her Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in finance in 2018.
In 2021, Amanda earned her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation, the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning from the CFP® Board of Standards. In 2024 Amanda was named to the Firm's Pacesetter's Club, a global recognition program for Financial Advisors who, early in their career, have demonstrated the highest professional standards and first class client service.
With an emphasis on financial planning and relationship management, Amanda enjoys working with like-minded clients who value and appreciate the level of service she delivers. Her goals-based process begins with asking the right questions and actively listening. This information then serves as the foundation for the development of a comprehensive plan that reflects each client’s goals for the future.
Amanda currently resides in Cromwell. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her Husband, Australian Shepherd puppy and boating in Deep River, CT.

Over the course of her career, Maura has had the opportunity to work in a variety of client service roles. She began her career at Morgan Stanley as a Sales Assistant, and spent several years in the Operations area as an Assistant Operations Manager and as Control Administrator for the branch. She joined The Barnes-Reid-Walz Group for the opportunity to work more directly with clients again.
About Deborah Swarr
Through ongoing outreach and communication, Deb leads a number of important aspects of the teams business management and client servicing activities, helping gain a deeper understanding of each clients set of priorities. As a Portfolio Associate with her Series 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses, she is able to execute trades on behalf of the Financial Advisors on the team.
Over the course of her career, Deb has had the opportunity to work in a variety of client service roles. She began her career at Paine Webber as a cashier.
Originally a native of Saskatchewan, Canada, Deb currently resides in Oakdale, CT with her two dogs, Paisley and Diego and enjoys spending time around the pool with her children and grandchildren.
