Approach

Having worked with uncommonly successful individuals for nearly 25 years, we understand that no two families have quite the same opportunities and challenges. Our clients’ priorities, concerns, and aspirations are unique and integral to their wealth management plan and so likely are their tax lots. At The Alpine Vista Group, we design customized and tailored financial plans that align with our clients’ vision of a successful life.

We understand your trust must be earned through our collaborative approach, competence, integrity and commitment to your success, so our disciplined approach to wealth management centers around you:
Discovery Process
Investing the time to learn about you and your family, your assets and liabilities, and your opportunities and risk exposures enables us to customize the relationship and formulate strategies that are catered to your unique needs.
Formulation of Tax, Trust and Estate Strategy
Working with your tax and legal advisors, we help analyze your income and estate tax circumstances to identify and tailor planning techniques that may be used to address your objectives.
Creation of Customized Strategic Asset Allocation
Your customized asset allocation reflects risks, opportunities and taxation across multiple entities, while integrating your investing and estate plans.
Integration of Tactical Asset Allocation
Short-term adjustments seek to capitalize on temporary market distortions. Before making any adjustments, we analyze the impact of taxes and trading costs on potential returns.
Implementation of a Customized Wealth Strategy
After comprehensive due diligence and analysis of expected results across multiple market scenarios, strategies are chosen from our expansive investment platform.
Ongoing Assessment
In coordination with your other professional advisors, we can conduct ongoing reviews and provide comprehensive reporting to ensure that your strategy adapts to changing financial and family needs.

HELPING KEEP MORE OF WHAT YOU HAVE EARNED

While taxes are top of mind for all investors, active tax management of an investment portfolio as a wealth planning tool is typically a passive consideration for most. Asset allocation and product selection are the primary drivers of investment results on a pretax basis; however, after-tax results can vary greatly depending on the tax treatment of those investment decisions. A significant amount of work and analysis is involved in ultimately creating what we believe is one of the best investment solutions for our clients, yet taxes usually become a once-a-year discussion starting sometime after Labor Day.
Opportunities for tax strategies ebb and flow with the fluctuations of the market and not with our fiscal calendars. Incorporating tax-sensitive investing into the daily trading activity of an account can capitalize on market fluctuations and potentially yield better after-tax results.
Tax-Managed Strategies Introduction: It's Not What You Earn, It's What You Keep
Tax drag is the reduction in an investor’s returns as a result of having to pay taxes on realized gains. Tax alpha is the difference between the pretax return—which is most frequently quoted in investment literature—and the after-tax return, which takes into account taxes payable due to realized capital gains in a portfolio. Beyond simply maintaining low portfolio turnover, tax drag may be minimized and tax alpha may be maximized by using several techniques:

Actively Pursuing Tax Alpha
Morgan Stanley has developed and offers a proprietary “tax management” overlay process for taxable Select UMA® accounts designed to actively seek out tax alpha. The service can be added or removed at any time and employs an active approach to deferring taxes and minimizing tax drag.

Tax Management Services
Reducing the current tax liabilities on your investments can help enhance your overall returns. Implementing our Tax Management Services in a taxable managed investment portfolio, known as a Unified Managed Account (UMA), seeks to offer you professional and tax-efficient portfolio management to help meet your unique financial goals.

Our Clientele

We serve a select clientele of highly accomplished entrepreneurs, early employees, and executives, as well as their families and charitable interests. Most of our clients are still actively involved in their careers and are anticipating, on the verge of, or have experienced a potentially life-changing liquidity event. While vocational flexibility may be something they seek temporarily or at some point in the future, many are serial entrepreneurs, early employees, and executives who also spend a significant amount of time on family and community involvements. Our clients often have a great deal of interest and curiosity about the tools and techniques we’ve used to help others achieve their goals. While these strategies may not always be suitable or applicable at any one time for every individual, our clients appreciate our collaborative approach to unpacking the pros and cons of each and every element of our rigorous planning framework to establish the right mix for them, their loved ones, and their evolving goals.
