About Scot Meyer

Scot is a Private Wealth Advisor Associate on The 650 Team in Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management division.

Despite growing up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Scot was always a Duke fan. After realizing his dream of earning a spot on the Duke University Varsity Men’s Lacrosse team, he was elected as a team captain and went on to win a NCAA Division I National Championship. After starting down the medical school route, he pivoted when he recognized how he could apply his analytical skills to help people in other ways and reoriented towards a career in wealth management.

Scot joined Morgan Stanley in 2012 and takes pride in his intellectual curiosity. In addition to his ongoing study of the capital markets and behavioral finance, he enjoys getting to know the team's clients at a deeper level. What motivates them? What are they trying to accomplish? And, how do their finances play a role in that? Understanding this helps him leverage the team’s experience and Morgan Stanley’s firm resources to build a wealth management strategy tailored to each situation. That often starts with a focus on planning – weaving together financial, trust/estate, philanthropic, and family financial education.

Having lived in California for over a decade, Scot is passionate about sustainability and the environment. He is a Chartered Sustainable Responsible Investment Counselor (CSRIC™), and helps clients understand how their investments are aligned, or in conflict, with their personal values - think “ESG” investing.

In his spare time, he works on the associate board for The League to Save Lake Tahoe (“Keep Tahoe Blue”), and interviews prospective Duke students as a member of the university’s Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee. Scot lives in San Francisco, loves getting up to Tahoe during the winter, and generally enjoys all activities that get him outside.
