Our Story and Services

Why You?

Our clients are intelligent and capable people, who generally just don't have the interest or the time to take on managing their own investment and planning needs. We serve a range of clients from diverse backgrounds including:

  • Multi-generational families;
  • Business owners and high level executives;
  • Members of the LGBTQIA+ community;
  • Women seeking guidance for themselves and their family, especially following becoming divorced or widowed;
  • Professionals like physicians, attorneys, academic faculty and staff, engineers, architects, and accountants;
  • Individuals experiencing sudden wealth, such as winning the lottery, inheriting a significant sum, or selling a business;
  • Introductions from existing clients to their friends, family, and colleagues

Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're strongest when we cheer each other on.
– Serena Williams

Why Us?

Our team provides a distinctive collection of knowledge, wisdom, and experience. Both personally and professionally, we have seen a lot, and can bring those experiences to bear, helping you create a plan specific to your needs and aspirations. We respect that you have a unique vision for what wealth will do for you and your family. Sometimes it provides freedom from everyday worries, a tool to effect social change, or it can be the source of a family legacy that provides security and opportunity for generations to come. Whatever your vision is, we work to understand it, support it, and help you create and implement the structure needed to make it a reality.

As a dedicated Financial Advisor, we seek to be a safe space where you can say out loud both the dreams you aspire to, and the fears that worry you. We will tell you what you need to know, not just what you want to hear. We're direct, but compassionate. We bring our own life experiences to bear for your benefit, which helps us relate to the life events that you're experiencing. Our understanding gives us the insight to deal with these issues practically. This is not a theoretical exercise. We talk to you in ordinary terms, not industry jargon. We seek to educate you about your finances, not impress you with how much we know. This is about you, because it should be. Let us help you get where you want to go.

By working with a team, you get the benefit of each Financial Advisor having a more robust and nuanced understanding of specific areas of financial planning and investments. This allows each of us to dive deeper into our areas of interest. And you get access to all of us.

It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.
- Eleanor Roosevelt

Why Planning?

A plan articulates specifically what you want to accomplish. Without specifics like this to guide our work, we're just throwing spaghetti and hoping something sticks. That's not a plan! And it's certainly not the most elegant, tax-efficient, or intentional way to accomplish those goals. Without the framework we get from a plan, it's hard to make adjustments because nothing is defined.

To help best position yourself to make your financial goals a reality, you need a plan to serve as the foundation for everything else: who are you planning for, what are you planning for, when will it happen, where will it occur, how does that plan look, and why is it important to you?

If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one.
– Dolly Parton

    About Annmarie M Bilger

    Annmarie grew up in the Italian American immigrant community of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. She lived four doors down from her grandparents, who had immigrated to the United States from Sicily to follow the American dream of a better life. They served as great role models through their hard work, saving what they could, and always putting family first.

    With their help, Annmarie's father was able to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. Her family moved to Grenada while he studied at St. George's University. When they returned to the U.S., they moved in with her grandparents. Her mother worked full time as a nurse and her father worked countless hours completing his residency.

    Sadly, when Annmarie was 8, she lost her mother to breast cancer. Her grandparents stepped in again and became a second set of parents for Annmarie and her siblings. These childhood experiences were formative for Annmarie, instilling in her the importance of family, a strong work ethic, and helping and caring for others.

    Today, she uses her knowledge, skills, and over 25 years of experience to help busy families, corporate executives, and business owners on their financial independence journeys. She takes great pride and personal satisfaction in helping her clients grow and maintain the wealth and lifestyle they have worked so hard to build. Annmarie's goal is to help and care for each client as if there were part of her extended family.

    She has been a member of various CFP Board committees, where she helped create exam questions, participated in diversity and inclusion reviews of exam questions, and helped develop the exam passing standards.

    Annmarie also serves as a board member of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and has Chaired their Women's Leadership Conference. This work brings her personal fulfillment, as it promotes connecting and empowering women in business, while also giving them a voice in the community.

    She lives with her husband, Chris, in Howard County, MD; their three children, Allie, Erin and Jason; and their dog, Dice.

    In her leisure time, Annmarie enjoys travelling, cooking and trying out new recipes, hosting parties, and spending time with friends and family.

    9When Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC, its affiliates and Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors and Private Wealth Advisors (collectively, “Morgan Stanley”) provide “investment advice” regarding a retirement or welfare benefit plan account, an individual retirement account or a Coverdell education savings account (“Retirement Account”), Morgan Stanley is a “fiduciary” as those terms are defined under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (“ERISA”), and/or the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”), as applicable. When Morgan Stanley provides investment education, takes orders on an unsolicited basis or otherwise does not provide “investment advice”, Morgan Stanley will not be considered a “fiduciary” under ERISA and/or the Code. For more information regarding Morgan Stanley’s role with respect to a Retirement Account, please visit www.morganstanley.com/disclosures/dol. Tax laws are complex and subject to change. Morgan Stanley does not provide tax or legal advice. Individuals are encouraged to consult their tax and legal advisors (a) before establishing a Retirement Account, and (b) regarding any potential tax, ERISA and related consequences of any investments or other transactions made with respect to a Retirement Account. Individuals should consult their tax advisor for matters involving taxation and tax planning and their attorney for matters involving trust and estate planning, charitable giving, philanthropic planning and other legal matters.

    10Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
