About Stuart R. Pfeifer, CFP®, CDFA®
Family Wealth Director, Morgan Stanley
I began my career at Smith Barney in 2004 and joined Morgan Stanley when the two firms came together in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. Navigating that period alongside my clients taught me early on that good planning isn't just about numbers; it's about steady guidance, clear communication, and trust built over time.
Today, I bring together three credentials that shape how I serve the families I work with. I've been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional since 2007, a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® since 2010, and I hold Morgan Stanley's Family Wealth Director designation. Together, they allow me to offer comprehensive advice across every aspect of your financial life, including wealth management, liabilities, estate planning, and tax strategy, whether you're building for the future, navigating a major transition, or planning a legacy for the next generation.
I'm a Charlotte native and a proud alumna of Charlotte Country Day School and Sewanee: The University of the South, where I majored in economics and played on the varsity women's soccer team. I've been married for more than 20 years to my husband, Jay, who works at Davidson College. We have two children: our daughter, Channing, who is studying at Wake Forest University, and our son, Charlie, who is in high school at Charlotte Country Day School. I lost my father in 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. That experience taught me a lot about what it takes physically, emotionally, and financially to care for a loved one with a progressive and debilitating disease. That knowledge informs my financial planning and has led to meaningful client conversations and support. My mother is a thriving 84-year-old who lives a few miles from me in Charlotte. Rounding out our family are our two cherished dogs, Birdie and Pete. In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, reading good books, and traveling with friends and family.
I'm especially passionate about helping women build successful careers in the competitive field of wealth management, and I see mentoring as one of the most meaningful ways to develop the next generation of talent. I was introduced to Turner Bobbitt shortly after she graduated from Washington and Lee University, where she was a four-year varsity swimmer. After more than a year of professional mentoring, I invited Turner to join my practice. I'm thrilled to have her as a colleague and look forward to watching her grow into a trusted advisor to current and future clients.
My belief in mentoring extends beyond my professional life. Since 2019, I've served on the board of Wayfinders, a Charlotte nonprofit, as executive head of mentoring, and have personally mentored two scholars for more than six years. Wayfinders' mission is to ignite student potential by expanding their confidence, connections, and horizons.
I believe my clients are best served by a team, not just an individual. My practice is supported by three dedicated client service professionals, and I partner with five trusted colleagues who each bring their own experience, perspective, and expertise in areas such as alternative investments and fixed income. This collaborative approach allows me to offer the depth of a specialized team while maintaining the personal, attentive relationship every client deserves.
