Strategies Built for Your Goals

Tab Image
We have a variety of proprietary investment models purpose-built to address different objectives and risk profiles. A key part of our process is taking the time to understand your unique, personal financial situation and help you land on the model that aligns with your important life milestones.
1. Cash Management
While banks may not pay much nothing on deposits held with them, we have alternatives that may potentially increase the yields on the portion of your portfolio that you would like to have in cash.

These include, Institutional Money Market Funds, FDIC insured certificates of deposit (CDs) as well as access to managers who can design a portfolio of short term investment grade corporate or federally tax-free municipal bonds.
2. The Balanced Income Model
This model seeks to produce annual income that exceeds the yield on a 10-Year Treasury bond by 100 basis points, or 1 percent.

It is a balanced portfolio, meaning it is comprised of bonds, real estate investment trusts and stocks whose primary focus is paying dividends. These may include companies with earnings streams from areas such as regulated utilities, value-oriented stocks and rental income from REITs.

The model seeks to have a low correlation to the S&P 500, meaning it is designed to participate less in broad equity market movements. As a result, it may decline less in certain down markets, but may also participate less in up markets

The model also seeks to generate total return in addition to income by investing a portion of assets in cyclical companies that we believe may be near the trough part of their cycle.
3. The Dividend Growth Model
This model seeks to invest in companies that have demonstrated a strong commitment to shareholder returns, including through a history of increasing dividend payments. It includes many companies considered to be “Dividend Aristocrats,” which generally refers to companies that have increased their dividends for at least 25 consecutive years.

These companies typically emphasize financial stability, earnings consistency and mature business models. Over certain historical periods, Dividend Aristocrats strategies have shown competitive performance relative to the S&P 500, particularly when evaluated on a risk-adjusted basis, and have experienced lower volatility in some market environments.

The benchmark we measure against is the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
4. The Fair Value Model
This model primarily invests in small- and mid-cap companies, which may perform differently than large-cap stocks across market and economic cycles.

The portfolio includes companies that have demonstrated either steady or cyclical growth characteristics over time.

A portion of the portfolio is also dedicated to companies that we believe may have substantial future addressable markets and the potential for meaningful growth over time, including the potential to scale as their businesses mature.
5. The Intrinsic Growth Model
This model consists primarily of large-cap companies and uses the S&P 500 Index as its benchmark.

The model seeks to outperform its benchmark by evaluating the weighting of each company in the index and then overweighting or underweighting securities that we believe may help support the portfolio’s investment objective.

In addition to overweighting and underweighting the various sectors that make up the index, the strategy relies on security selection, as the portfolio typically owns only a subset of the stocks represented in the S&P 500.

As of 2026 the model’s 10-year annualized return, net of fees, has exceeded the return of the S&P 500 Index, which is the benchmark for this model.
6. The International and Emerging Markets Model Portfolio
This portfolio seeks to find opportunities of growth from companies outside the United States. Investing in International and Emerging market have offered long term returns, while not being correlated to the U.S market. As of 2026, we have been very underweight in this allocation but have begun to make it a greater portion of our recommended allocations based on growth catalysts that we see ahead. This portfolio seeks to identify growth opportunities in companies outside the United States. International and emerging market investments have historically offered long-term return potential and may provide diversification benefits relative to U.S. markets. As of 2026, we have maintained an underweight allocation to this area, but have begun increasing exposure within our recommended allocations based on growth catalysts we believe may develop over time.

The portfolio includes a select number of individual stocks, but primarily uses exchange-traded funds to gain diversified access to international and emerging markets.
7. The Balanced Growth Portfolio
This portfolio draws on selected ideas from across our different models and combines them into a single asset allocation portfolio. Unlike portfolios that are designed to remain fully invested at all times, this portfolio uses an active asset allocation approach.
Based on our assessment of market and economic cycles, we may overweight or underweight certain asset classes over time.

This portfolio may be considered for clients seeking a diversified starting point for their investment allocation, depending on their objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon and overall financial circumstances. For some clients, it may represent a meaningful portion of their allocation with us, although the appropriate allocation will vary by client.

1Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan's investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan's flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan's investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state's own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state's tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. 10An investment in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor’s ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) before investing. The prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF. To obtain a prospectus, contact your Financial Advisor or visit the ETF company’s website. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing.

15Physical precious metals are non-regulated products. Precious metals are speculative investments, which may experience short-term and long-term price volatility. The value of precious metals investments may fluctuate and may appreciate or decline, depending on market conditions. If sold in a declining market, the price you receive may be less than your original investment. Unlike bonds and stocks, precious metals do not make interest or dividend payments. Therefore, precious metals may not be appropriate for investors who require current income. Precious metals are commodities that should be safely stored, which may impose additional costs on the investor. The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (“SIPC”) provides certain protection for customers’ cash and securities in the event of a brokerage firm’s bankruptcy, other financial difficulties, or if customers’ assets are missing. SIPC protection does not apply to precious metals or other commodities.
