About Scott

Scott Lindus is a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley. He provides financial advisory services to high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs. He also offers risk-management strategies to corporate executives with sophisticated requirements, including 105b-1 plans for monetizing company stock as well as hedging capabilities. He leverages the wide range of Morgan Stanley’s lending capacity to give his clients access to residential mortgages and other credit facilities.

Scott began his career in the consumer products industry, and applies the same principles he developed in that role to the business he runs now. His 20 years of financial services experience began by working with institutional fixed income asset managers. Scott built a solid foundation in helping to address problems and identifying opportunities for them. He relies on this background and his communication skills to explain similar complex concepts in a readily accessible format to the individuals he now serves. He is responsive to their changing needs, and builds portfolios to help withstand market uncertainty.

Beginning his professional career at Coca-Cola USA (1988-1993), Scott joined J.P. Morgan Securities’ predecessor firm, Bear Stearns, as a fixed income analyst in New York City (1996-1999). He returned home to Los Angeles and transitioned to the private client business in 1999.

Scott grew up in Pasadena, and graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. degree in Political Science, and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He speaks fluent Italian and French and is conversational in Farsi. He and his wife live in Brentwood with their fourteen-year old daughter and ten-year old son. In his free time, Scott enjoys golf, snowboarding, travel and gardening. He also coaches his daughter’s basketball and his son’s little league baseball teams.

To be truly effective, your plan must reflect the totality of your personal and financial life. Our role is to help ensure that your investment objectives are consistent with pressing financial concerns and your long-term aspirations.

These four steps were developed to achieve that goal:

1. Setting your financial objectives
Through a process of discovery and discussion, we will work with you to articulate your aims for your wealth. Together, we will examine your cur- rent and future liabilities, income sources and cash flow needs, and then consider factors that might influence your overall strategy, including tolerance for risk, tax concerns, liquidity needs and time horizon. Through careful analysis, the team will look for potential gaps that may exist between you and your goals, and develop sound strategies to help smooth the path.

2. Creating your strategy
Working from our understanding of you and your objectives, we will propose a financial plan that contains
specific strategies designed to help meet those goals. Our advice may encompass issues such as retirement planning, business continuation, tax minimization potential and wealth transfer. You will also receive an asset allocation strategy designed to pro- vide diversification for your portfolio.

3. Implementing your strategy
After discussing and refining your strategy, we will work closely with you to bring the elements to life. Should we decide together that out- side money managers are appropriate for you, the team will draw on in- depth research and analysis to help you select from the hundreds of investment management firms avail- able to you. If you prefer to invest in individual securities, we can help identify specific stocks, bonds and other securities that may be suitable for your portfolio. Whatever approach we decide on, we will help you keep your strategy on track.

4. Reviewing objectives and performance
We view ongoing communication as the foundation of our successful collaboration with you. We will make every effort to keep abreast of your changing financial needs and provide viable strategies to help you meet them. This means reviewing your portfolio together at your request. When your circumstances change, we will work with you to revise your strategy and reposition your assets to reflect your new needs and goals.

Financial Planning

The financial planning process begins with you, your investment objectives and your financial goals. Our holistic approach encompasses all the elements of your financial life — your investments and your cash management needs — making sure they align with your goals and wealth management plan.
