Working With You

Tab Image
With so many people calling themselves "financial advisors", we begin to look like "peanut shells", making it hard to differentiate from one another.
We take great pride working with families and executing what we say we will do, and our ability to help identify gaps in their financial lives.

As a Family Wealth Advisor, I help families prepare for the future. Our Financial Plan and Portfolio Review process is the cornerstone of our practice, as it leads to ongoing communication about what is happening in your life, as well as the lives of your parents, children and grandchildren.  We often become an extension of your family, getting to know each generation and understanding your unique dynamics.  This allows us to customize tax-efficient wealth and planning strategies that can have an impact on future generations.

My Family

I was born and raised in the small town of Raymond, IA. My dad was a blue collar worker and retired from John Deere after 36 years. He remains the busiest person I know and has always put his family ahead of himself. My mom is by far the most positive person I know. She stayed home raising 5 kids in a two bedroom house and later started her own tax preparation business. She is loved by all who know her.

My love for finance started in high school when Sister Damian became my accounting teacher. This love continued through college. However, wanting to be a baseball and basketball coach, I minored in secondary education and found a teaching job in Duncanville, TX. This is where I met my beautiful wife, Andi Bobier, who was a science teacher just down the hall from me. It took two months to gather the courage to ask her out, and now we have been married for 25 years. Andi stays home with our children and we are blessed by her constant thoughtfulness and strength.

Max is our oldest son and attends graduated school at Westminster University with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. His kindness to others, especially those in trouble, inspires me. Sam is a senior at Iowa State University majoring in Software Engineering. He is an “old soul” and the one in our family who is able to make anyone laugh. His wit rivals that of any adult. Reese is a senior at Dowling Catholic High School this year. She has been the one with the greatest love of sports. Her plan is pursue a marketing degree at the University of Iowa. Reese amazes us with her ability to carry conversations with various age groups and personalities.

Of course our family would not be complete without Ralph, Murphy and Muffin. Ralph and Murphy are French Bulldogs, ages 7 and 5, respectively. We affectionately refer to them at times as Boopy and Baby. Muffin entered our lives a year ago and is particularly fond of Reese. Sadly, we had say goodbye to our first pet, Molly, a little over a year ago. She is still loved and missed.

12Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
