My Story and Services

Bob has provided financial advice to clients for more than 20+ years. Bob advises high net worth individuals and their families as well as business owners, senior executives, corporate retirement plan sponsors, and investment committees.  Managing wealth involves far more than managing an investment portfolio. It begins with discovery to achieve a deep understanding of who you are and the financial forces at work in your life. It means helping you to understand and respond effectively to these forces.  It means helping you structure your personal balance sheet in a way that reflects the realities of your life and the uniqueness of your long-term goals. Bob works closely with each client’s tax and legal counsel to help ensure that the result is a coherent and coordinated strategy. Bob is committed to maintaining a firm grasp of the global-macro and geopolitical environment and understanding how those issues will impact markets and client goals.

About Me

Bob has worked all his life starting in the 4th grade with a paper route. His parents instilled him with discipline and the value of hard work. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies at the United States Military Academy. West Point taught him world class problem solving and leadership skills. He served nine years active-duty spending time in both Europe and the Middle East. Those experiences help him better understand the geopolitical environment we operate in today. Bob was recruited into financial services by Merrill Lynch in 1999. He later joined Smith Barney in 2005 which was acquired by Morgan Stanley in 2009.

Bob became a financial advisor because he saw firsthand the impact on his father’s equity compensation when his employer went bankrupt. Financial literacy has always been a passion ever since.

Bob is a member of The Watchtower Group which consists of portfolio managers Steve Gaumer and himself, Kayla Packer, a planning and fixed income specialist, and client service associate Chantal Martinez Blanco.

Bob enjoys spending time with family and friends. He serves as the President of the local Service Academy Business Network. Bob is a die-hard Bruins fan and season ticket holder. He loves to ski and collect fine wine.

11Structured Investments are complex and not appropriate for all investors. An investment in structured investments involves risks. These risks can include but are not limited to: fluctuations in the price, level or yield of underlying asset(s), interest rates, currency values and credit quality, substantial loss of principal, limits on participation in appreciation of underlying asset(s), limited liquidity, credit risk, and/or conflicts of interest. Many structured investments do not pay interest or guarantee a return above principal at maturity. Investors should read the security’s offering documentation prior to making an investment decision.

12Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
