From the Diamond to the Desk: Rich’s Journey
Before becoming a dedicated financial advisor, Rich played collegiate baseball at Indiana University—an experience that shaped much of the way he approaches life and business today. Competing at a high level taught him the importance of preparation, resilience, and being part of something bigger than yourself—lessons he still draws on every day in his advisory practice.

Rich brings the same focus and discipline to financial planning that he brought to the field. Just as success in baseball depends on staying focused through nine innings, he believes financial success comes from consistency, long-term thinking, and being ready for the curveballs life throws. Clients know Rich for his steady approach, thoughtful communication, and ability to help build strategies that are grounded, personal, and designed help meet their needs.

    Community Leadership
Rich is deeply committed to serving the greater Pittsburgh area—not just as a financial advisor, but as a community leader. As a longtime member of the Cranberry Township Rotary Club, Rich has embraced the organization’s mission of “Service Above Self.” His involvement spans years of dedicated service, including his time as Club President and being honored as Rotarian of the Year in both 2006 and 2009.

Throughout his time, Rich has helped lead local initiatives, organize charitable events, and build meaningful relationships with fellow members who share his commitment to giving back. His community involvement is a reflection of the same values that guide his work with clients: consistency, service, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

    Ongoing Community Service
Rich expanded his community involvement in 2023 by joining the Board of The Cranberry CUP, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to offer hope, support, and encouragement to individuals and families facing life’s challenges. The CUP’s values strongly align with Rich’s own—centered around compassion, service, and community impact.

In 2024, Rich deepened his involvement by taking on the role of Softball Coordinator, overseeing a tournament of 500+ participants. This annual event brings the community together in support of the CUP’s Inspirational Family of the Year. Through his leadership, Rich continues to find meaningful ways to support causes that reflect the same values he brings to his advisory relationships: empathy, connection, and a desire to make a difference.

3Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.

6Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan's investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan's flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan's investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state's own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state's tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice.
