My story...

I am Raymond Corney, a family wealth advisor with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in San Diego, California. 

As a family wealth advisor for over 20 years, I take time to fully understand all aspects of my client's wealth management picture.  I treat my client and his or her investment objectives in relation to their lives, goals, and any special circumstances they have in their investments. 

Special circumstances can include: family dynamics, how they achieved their wealth, their goals and ambitions, special situations relevant to their family, the importance of charity in their lives, how they view money, or what their issues are surrounding their wealth.

I help individuals, families, and businesses with the increasing complexity and responsibility of coordination, management, and ongoing oversight of their financial lives.  I recognize that delicate and changing conditions exist not only in the markets, but also in my client’s lives.

To get a fully holistic view of clients, I get to know them on a personal level.  This entails several conversations, during which I capture a deep understanding of risk tolerance.  I identify the client’s primary intent for their wealth, then goals and strategies are built together.

True wisdom is knowing what you don’t know.  Looking out for those around us, and taking calculated but decisive action are all essential behaviors that we cannot ever do without.  As a family wealth advisor for over two decades, I know that this philosophy applies not only to our personal lives, but our approach to investing.

    Simone Devenny

    Simone Devenny is the Ultra-High Net Worth (“UHNW”) Planning Specialist for Morgan Stanley Family Office Resources, covering the Southwest Region. In this capacity, Simone provides services to Financial Advisors and their UHNW clients, educating and advising across a broad spectrum of family wealth management concerns, including customized asset allocation and portfolio construction, strategic estate and financial planning, philanthropy management, family governance, wealth education and lifestyle advisory.

    Most recently, Simone was a Wealth and Estate Planning Strategist at Morgan Stanley. She also held similar roles at Fidelity Investments and BNY Mellon. Earlier, she founded a boutique estate planning law firm in Southern California working with high net worth families, business owners and charities. She began her career as a tax attorney with Deloitte and Touche in New York, focused on tax planning for large, multinational financial institutions . She has over 20 years of experience as an attorney representing individuals and business clients in connection with the development and implementation of sophisticated estate planning strategies and techniques. Simone is also a frequent guest speaker on topics related to estate planning, wealth transfer, and philanthropy.

    Simone holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College, and J.D. from Boston College Law School. She is admitted to practice in New York and California. She also holds FINRA Series 7, 66 and 24 licenses.

      Sean Lavin

      Sean is a Vice President and Trust Specialist for Morgan Stanley. He is responsible for supporting Financial Advisors and their clients in developing trust and fiduciary solutions for families, institutions and charities. Sean works closely with clients’ strategic advisors to structure trust vehicles that meet clients’ specific goals and objectives. Sean also provides advice on how to best utilize the fiduciary services available through the Morgan Stanley Trust Service offering and its comprehensive platform available to clients.

      Sean joined Morgan Stanley in 1999 including several years as a Senior Vice President and Regional Trust Specialist with Smith Barney and Citi Trust. Prior to then, Sean was a Senior Trust Officer with both Merrill Lynch and Bank of America.

      Sean graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and received his master’s degree in business administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Sean holds the Certified Financial Planner and Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designations and is Series 7 and 63 licensed.
