About Peter Maloney

Peter Maloney is a Financial Advisor and Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley who brings a relationship-first mindset and decades of market experience to helping clients make financial decisions. He is passionate about helping people—building long-term relationships, understanding what matters most to each client, and putting thoughtful plans in place to help them work toward their goals.

Pete’s approach is grounded in trust, straightforward guidance, and follow-through. Clients know he takes their best interests seriously and is committed to providing clear, dependable advice. He’s known for being personable and direct—and for never guessing when it comes to a client’s financial decisions. If he doesn’t know an answer, he will say so and then do the work to get it right.

Pete began his financial services career in 1989 at Merrill Lynch, initially working in a real estate branch locations group as a lease negotiator. In 1993, he earned his Series 7 and transitioned into a role in New York City. He previously served at Morgan Stanley from 2007 to 2015 and returned to the firm in 2026. His service model emphasizes regular portfolio and performance reviews, aligning investments with client goals, and making adjustments as life evolves.

He holds Series 7, 31, 63, and 65 licenses, along with insurance licenses for life and health and long-term care. Pete is also a Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley and has held the CIMA® designation since 2009. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics.

A dedicated community member, Pete has been active for years in youth basketball, including serving on a local board and coaching for approximately 15 years. Outside the office, he enjoys golf and is a member of Foxfire Country Club in Naples, Florida, and he also spends time traveling, at the beach, and doing a bit of birding—plus the occasional basketball shoot-around.

Pete splits his time between Naples, Florida—where he is typically based most of the year—and Westerly, Rhode Island. His children are grown, and he is especially proud to be working alongside his daughter, Maeve, who is joining him in the business—adding fresh perspective and supporting continuity for clients over time. As Pete often says, he’s an open book: he believes the best client relationships are built on being real, and on understanding the full picture of what’s happening in clients’ lives—not just their finances.

    10b5-1 Plans

As a corporate executive, you may be aware of material non-public information at any time and can also face company-imposed quarterly or specific blackout periods restricting market access to trading your company stock. A 10b5-1 plan is designed to address these issues. By utilizing a 10b5-1 plan, you can gain an affirmative defense against claims of insider trading. Your plan can include tailored trading schedules that coordinates with your personal need for liquidity and your own timing requirements.

    Planning for the Unplanned

Events such as death, disability, or retirement of a business owner don't have to mean the end of a successful business. Succession planning can provide for an orderly transition of ownership and business management during lifetime or at death. There are various options for structing and funding buy-sell agreements, key employee needs, and other executive benefits programs.

    Transaction of a Lifetime

Creating and growing a successful business is seldom just about money, nor is the decision to exit the business. Whether that exit is through IPO, merger with another company, private sale, or succession within the family, the process is intense, the details are complex, and the decisions are often an unexpected combination of personal and financial needs. Morgan Stanley has been helping business owners like you bring clarity and confidence to what is typically a once-in-a-lifetime event.
