MARKET WISDOM, HUMAN INSIGHT

In the realm of investing, the timeless maxim "buy low, sell high" guides savvy investors towards opportunities hidden in undervalued assets. Yet, amidst market drops, why do some choose to sell instead of seizing a chance to buy low?

Because they are acting on emotion rather than logic. At The Conklin Group, we recognize the clash between sound investing principles and human nature. While the logic suggests buying low during market dips, emotions often drive investors to do the opposite (i.e., 'sell low'). They fear further losses, despite knowing that long-term, it's in their best interest to ignore short-term market fluctuations and to stay on course. In fact, while people are supposed to act in their own self-interest and make logical decisions, human beings are much more inclined to act emotionally when it comes to money – that’s the core principle behind a school of thought called Behavioral Investing.

We have studied the phenomenon of Behavioral Investing and applied it to our wealth management practice. One of the most important things we do for our clients is to provide a logical, systematic response to changing conditions – we provide a guiding hand during the regular market volatility that is almost certain to occur during any long-range investment cycle.
Philosophy
  • At The Conklin Group, we recognize that wealth management extends beyond financial portfolios; it's about securing peace of mind and fostering a legacy. We delve into the intricacies of your financial landscape to ensure that your wealth not only grows but is aligned with your broader life goals. Our commitment to personalization means that your journey is not a one-size-fits-all approach; it's a dynamic strategy that evolves with you. As your partners in financial prosperity, we strive to provide more than just guidance – we aim to instill confidence in your financial decisions, empowering you to live a life that transcends the ordinary. Trust The Conklin Group to transform your wealth management experience into a meaningful and enduring legacy.

9Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
