My Story and Services

Patricia S. Glass is a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Management Director, and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. Drawing on over 30 years of financial industry experience, she counsels a select group of high-net-worth families, professionals, foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Her goal is to deliver a broad range of multigenerational wealth management solutions, extending beyond investments, to help preserve and enhance her clients’ wealth, allowing them to focus on the people, passions, and philanthropies that matter most to them.

Patricia brings integrity, empathy, sophistication, and a dedication to excellence to her practice. She is committed to thoroughly understanding her clients’ financial positions and objectives while providing extraordinary service. By developing personal connections, she offers insightful guidance on long-term financial issues, including retirement savings, charitable giving, estate planning strategies, thoughtful discussion of the impact of wealth on heirs, and investment management.

Her comprehensive wealth management process is anchored in financial planning, enabling her to deliver tailored, customized solutions. Patricia enjoys analyzing her clients’ unique challenges and leveraging Morgan Stanley’s vast resources to address them. Her ability to listen, educate, and apply her extensive product knowledge are among her greatest strengths.

Patricia’s investment approach goes beyond traditional asset allocation. First, she identifies a goals-based blend of assets aligned with each client’s objectives, ranging from wealth conservation to opportunistic growth. Next, she incorporates a mix of active and passive investments after rigorous manager selection, aiming to optimize performance net of fees and taxes. Finally, she constructs and risk-manages portfolios using insights from her SVS portfolio management team and Morgan Stanley’s analysts, strategists, and economists. Positions are vigilantly monitored, portfolios are strategically rebalanced, and regular client meetings ensure ongoing communication.

Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2012, Patricia was a Director at Credit Suisse Private Banking USA, where she worked since 1999. She began her career in investment banking, holding roles at Credit Suisse (London), UBS, and Société Générale.

Patricia holds a BA from Brown University, an MA from Yale University, an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an additional MA from the University of Pennsylvania. She is an Associate Fellow of Davenport College at Yale.

Active in both professional and philanthropic circles, Patricia represents Morgan Stanley on the Council on Foreign Relations. She has been involved with the New York Junior League, the Parents Advisory Board at Northfield Mount Hermon School, the Brown Club of New York (as Treasurer), Friends of the American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Empowers Africa (as a Founding Trustee), and The Africa Foundation.

Patricia is an avid and intrepid skier and hiker. The mother of two adult sons, Patricia resides in Manhattan, NY, where she frequents art museums and theater.

Separation and Divorce

As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), I understand firsthand that divorce is not just emotionally difficult—it can also erode wealth more severely than a major market downturn.

Many people facing divorce have relied on their soon-to-be ex-spouse or a close family member to manage finances, leaving them unprepared and naïve to the financial complexities ahead. I help clients navigate these challenges with clarity, helping ensure they avoid costly mistakes during and after the process.

My goal is to provide steady guidance so you can move forward with confidence and achieve financial success as you begin this new chapter.
I can help you:
  • Gather, organize, analyze and present financial data
  • Understand the division of assets such as 401Ks, IRAs, pensions and private company interests
  • Understand the division of liabilities such as mortgages and HELOCs
  • Develop a budget and project future expenses
  • Assess whether you will have enough income to live on now and in the future
  • Determine options regarding the marital home and other real estate
  • Decide which assets to sell or keep
  • Address implications for health, life, homeowners, and other insurance plans
  • Access extra liquidity if needed during and after the process
  • Establish short and long-term goals for you and your children
  • Reshape investment plans in accordance with new financial objectives
  • Review estate plans
  • Understand the realities of alimony vs child support
  • Review head of household tax benefits

1Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan's investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan's flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan's investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state's own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state's tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
