My Story and Services

I moved to the United States from the former Soviet Union in my early twenties and together with my husband at that time started my own manufacturing and metal fabrication business which I ran until 2013 which I had to close due to the economic downturn. After this experience I did not lose my desire to succeed. I got my MBA degree from the University of Portland. Since the days of listening to the Voice of America in my small Russian kitchen, I knew, that given the right opportunity, I would succeed in anything I chose to do.
Though I help people from all walks of life, I focus my practice on what is near and dear to me: independent business owners and families with children with special needs. I help business owners manage the complexity of their financial lives and avoid mistakes. I pay attention to what is important: helping to manage risk by diversification and building their wealth. Before we discuss investments, I go through a thorough due diligence process and discuss the unique needs of the business, the owner’s lifestyle and family, and goals for the future. Once I have an understanding of whom I am working with, I create a truly personalized wealth strategy. I analyze the prospective client’s current and future cash flows, and focus on estate planning strategies to help ensure all aspects of the wealth management strategy work together. The benefit to the client is seeing how modifications may provide a more satisfactory outcome and how little changes over time can have a significant impact.
My other passion is helping families with special needs children. Families like mine often struggle with competing priorities of saving for retirement, leaving bequests for their other children and making sure that their special needs children are well-taken care of. One of the critical elements of financial planning for families with special needs children is safeguarding government benefits and preserving the child’s quality of life. I can help you achieve these goals here at Morgan Stanley.

OUR CAPABILITIES FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

Tab Image
As an entrepreneur or business owner, you know the value of hard work and your time is at a premium. You've invested years- or perhaps decades- into your enterprise, and your personal wealth may be closely tied to your company. Whether you are focused on pursuing your growth, preparing to transition or exit, or somewhere in between, we can help evaluate the complexities and considerations relevant to your situation.

Through four decades of service to business owners and their multi-generational families, we have learned the value of thoughtful and proactive guidance. This starts with a comprehensive planning process that considers key aspects f your life, your business and your family. From there, we can draw on the resources of a global firm to help coordinate solutions across a range of needs related to your life and business, in collaboration with your other professional advisors.
1: Forming a Business / Angel Round
As your Financial Advisors, we view our role as helping serve as a quarterback for the advisory team, coordinating with your legal, tax/accounting, and other professional advisors, as appropriate. A coordinated and responsive team can help you stay focused on your business while providing guidance designed to support your personal and entrepreneurial goals.
2: Early Stage / Series AB Rounds
The early stage of a company’s growth phase can be a productive time to consider in-depth estate planning. In our experience, the demands of growing a business often relegate an estate plan to the back burner until an impending exit or unexpected life event. Planning in the early stages can help you evaluate risk, consider tax efficiency opportunities, and support the future needs of both your family and your business.
3: Mid and Late Stage / Series CD Rounds
As your business matures, the resources of Morgan Stanley can be valuable in helping you explore debt or equity financing for growth, establish corporate retirement and financial wellness plans, review your personal and business insurance lines as appropriate, consider philanthropic initiatives, and more. At this point, more in depth business and estate planning may be warranted, along with a valuation of the business. Working with the rest of your advisory team, we can help you assess growth drivers and weigh exit planning options as desired.
4: Preparing For a Liquidity Event
It is important to consider income tax and wealth transfer strategies prior to a potential liquidity event. In addition to tax-planning considerations, a liquidity event often raises broader questions for you, including regarding family goals or “mission,” wealth stewardship, and your next step, whether into retirement or a new venture.
5: Post Liquidity Planning
The post liquidity stage brings various considerations such as continuing to develop a family “mission statement,” family governance and wealth education, philanthropic planning, and lifestyle advisory considerations. Should the company now be public, the conversation may include liquidity planning and programs related to the exercise of stock options.

2Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
