About Marshall Grant
Marshall Grant is a First Vice President and Resident Manager at Morgan Stanley. With over 20 years of experience, he has dedicated his career to helping clients define their retirement goals and seek to build lasting wealth. Marshall's passion for investing began at age 10 when he attempted to purchase stock using money earned from his morning paper route. He has been a lifelong student of the markets ever since, studying Economics at UCLA and joining the financial services industry in 1993.
Marshall believes that successful financial planning begins with meaningful conversations to understand each client’s unique goals and priorities. Having navigated both the highs and lows of investment markets, he has developed a deep understanding of market cycles and risk management. While broad diversification can be essential, Marshall believes that it’s not enough—strategic tactical shifts and a strong focus on capital preservation can be critical to work towards long-term success.
Outside of work, Marshall is committed to his family and their community. He and his wife, Kristi, live in Truckee, CA, with their twin boys, Rowan and Carson, and they embrace the active outdoor lifestyle the area provides year-round. Kristi is a professional helicopter pilot, and Marshall, a private fixed-wing pilot, enjoys flying their Cessna to destinations across the Western U.S.. Marshall has also spent over 15 years coaching high school boys' basketball and now devotes much of his time to coaching his sons' baseball and basketball teams. His commitment to mentoring young athletes reflects his belief in the power of teamwork, discipline, and personal growth—values that extend into both his professional and personal life.
Disclosures:
Asset allocation and diversification do not guarantee a profit or protect against a loss in a declining financial market.

2Alternative Investments are speculative and include a high degree of risk. An investor could lose all or a substantial amount of his/her investment. Alternative investments are appropriate only for qualified, long-term investors who are willing to forgo liquidity and put capital at risk for an indefinite period of time.
3Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan's investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan's flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan's investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state's own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state's tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
