My Story and Services

Matthew R. Zhilitsky is a Senior Vice President, Financial Planning Specialist, and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. With more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry, he focuses on custom financial planning and wealth management strategies that address the unique concerns of business owners, executives, and families.

Matt graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University, earning the distinction of being first in his class with the highest grade point average in the Rutgers Business School. He was awarded the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key in recognition of this achievement. In addition to managing a rigorous academic load, Matt worked 30 hours per week as a Finance Associate at a financial firm in order to pay for his entire 4-year education – a testament to his strong work ethic.

Following graduation, Matt’s math and finance skills led him to a Wall Street investment firm where he gained experience with risk analysis, fixed income derivatives, trading, and interest rate swaps. After an initial interest in investment banking, he quickly realized he had a passion for working with people so he turned to wealth management and joined Morgan Stanley in 2003 as a financial advisor. Matt is a now 10-year recipient of the New Jersey Monthly Magazine 5 Star Wealth Manager Award (2013-2023).

Whether providing thoughtful guidance on asset allocation, retirement, or estate planning strategies, the hallmark of Matt’s practice is his commitment to customized, client-centered financial planning. That’s why he strives for a deep understanding of clients’ needs and objectives right from the start. Matt takes the time to look at both sides of the balance sheet, at risk tolerance and cash flow needs. He also does his own research so that he can help clients understand what they’re investing in, why, and how it fits into their overall wealth management strategy. Throughout the entire process, Matt keeps clients well-informed and continues to monitor and adjust plans as needed. But above all, he focuses on building a close relationship with each client. Matt understands that financial advising is not always about numbers or formulas or even about finding the best rate of return. It’s about people – understanding their goals, knowing their families, anticipating their needs, and doing what it takes to help achieve their financial future.

Outside of the office, Matt enjoys early morning runs before work, mountain biking, and family time with his wife Dianne and their two children. He also serves on the board of Hamp’s Camps, an organization founded by ex-NFL player Rodney Hampton that provides camp and after-school programs for children in need.
