My Story and Services

Matthew Buhrt brings thoughtful planning, clear communication and a genuine interest in people to every client relationship. Drawing on his background in finance and a lifelong desire to help others, he strives to simplify complexity and offer guidance that aligns with each client’s goals, values and risk comfort.

Matthew began his career in 2021, immediately after earning a Finance degree from the University of Illinois Gies College of Business. He first served clients on the independent channel at Raymond James, then continued to build his practice at Merrill Lynch before joining Morgan Stanley in 2026. Through these experiences, he has honed a disciplined process that starts with listening: learning what motivates driven executives, business owners, medical professionals and affluent families, then developing tailored strategies that seek to support long-term growth, tax efficiency and meaningful diversification.

Matthew helps coordinate the full spectrum of wealth management needs—investment management, cash-flow and retirement planning, and access to estate and tax planning resources—so clients can focus on what matters most to them.

Away from the office, Matthew and his wife, Abby, reside in Lombard with their two cats, Nigel and Lulu. A proud University of Illinois alumnus, he is an avid golfer who once competed at the club level and now enjoys both competitive and social rounds. When he picks up a guitar, he finds a creative outlet and a peaceful escape. Above all, Matthew values the relationships he builds—with family, friends and clients alike—and feels privileged to walk alongside them on their journeys.
