My Story

Matthew Blakeley is a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. He primarily focuses on financial planning with an emphasis on retirement and estate planning strategies. Matt is passionate about guiding families through their various financial goals, while incorporating solutions tailored to each individual client. Utilizing a structured approach, Matt helps to analyze current situations and how to best utilize the available resources to achieve current, future, and legacy goals. Matt started his career at Morgan Stanley as a Wealth Advisor Associate; focusing on financial planning for clients across the firm, primarily in San Francisco and Hawaii. Matt created over 400 financial plans for a variety of clients during his two years was a WAA. Matt experienced firsthand the importance of prudent planning, having navigated clients through the COVID-19 pandemic and all its financial uncertainty with the suite of available planning tools. Matt brings that extensive planning experience to his role as a financial advisor.

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Matt worked for one of Hawaii’s top banks, graduating from their prestigious management training program. As a branch manager, Matt learned the importance of prudent planning and comprehensive financial support. Matt excelled at connecting with clients and providing practical solutions to meet their everyday needs. When approached to join Morgan Stanley, Matt knew it was the opportunity to build his own practice based off these invaluable principles.

Born and raised on Oahu, Matt graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. In his free time, Matt enjoys golfing, playing soccer, eating at new restaurants, and travelling. He is an avid sports fan, especially of University of Hawaii athletics and Liverpool Football Club (UK).

1Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
