My Family
My clients and I often talk about family, both theirs and mine. That’s why we’re working together and making plans, right? I raised three children, all now grown and leading fulfilling lives in different parts of the United States. I love traveling to visit my family, including trips to Detroit, my original hometown.
Family for me is bigger than the literal meaning, and that leads to a story about my name “Kit.” Before I was born, a friend of my parents was so influential in their lives that she became like family. Her name was Kit, and my parents wanted to honor her impact by endowing me with her name. Of course, my great-grandmother Mary deserved top billing. That’s how I became Mary “Kit” Mac Nee. And how I learned to value a broad definition of “family.”
I live in Santa Monica, California and travel throughout Southern California with my partner and the U.S. to support my clients as well as the community groups I work with.
