My Story and Services

With more than two decades of investment experience, I help clients clarify their goals and create thoughtful strategies designed to help preserve and grow wealth. I track the markets and pay special focus to downside performance risk, so my clients can enjoy their life and retirement without the stress of financial uncertainty.

I began my career as an equity analyst with Roney & Company (1998–1999). I then joined the Fisher Group, the family office of philanthropist Max M. Fisher, where I was part of a two-person investment team responsible for asset allocation, manager selection, performance measurement and portfolio risk analysis (1999–2003). This hands-on experience guides the disciplined process I employ for clients today. Joining Morgan Stanley in 2003, I have seen market changes and held fast to my philosophy: your finances should be clear, unique to your needs, and continue to grow.

Away from the office, I enjoy playing piano and tennis, cheering on the Detroit Tigers and working on projects around our house on Lake Orion with my wife, Milana.

My Clients Benefit from:
1. A client-first approach based on clear communication is the foundation of my practice.
2. Close monitoring of portfolios and accounts means that you will stay informed frequently.
3. Morgan Stanley’s extensive research, robust trading platform and broad spectrum of potential investment solutions allows us to develop customized asset-allocation approaches and strategic financial plans.

    Step 1: Initial Call

During our initial call we'll discuss what you hope to get from a relationship with us. We'll ask you about your previous experiences with Financial Advisors or how you manage your finances on your own. We will discuss what you perceive to be your major objectives and potential obstacles to achieving them. The goal of this meeting is to build a relationship and create a strong foundation of financial knowledge together.

    Icon Image
    Step 2: Discovery Meeting

A discovery meeting's purpose is to take inventory of your finances and what you want your wealth to accomplish. Together, we will identify your goals, attempt to quantify their cost, and determine how you can achieve them during your time horizon. A discovery meeting acts like a baseline discussion of your finances, and it helps me and Farryn create a financial plan that works for you and your family.

    Icon Image
    Step 3: Plan Presentation

Once we have gathered your goals, intent, risk tolerance, and timeline - a plan is built. During a plan presentation meeting we will present your financial plan and the strategies we suggest for filling any gaps between your goals and resources. Your plan will contain an asset allocation based on the size of those gaps and your risk tolerance. Please note, asset allocation does not assure a profit or protect against loss in declining financial markets. We rely on experience and the tools at Morgan Stanley to build your plan accordingly.

    Icon Image
    Step 4: Plan Implementation

Here your plan is brought to life. This may entail additional consultation with Morgan Stanley professionals who focus on business planning, tax strategies and other disciplines relevant to your situation. It will also involve the development of a personalized investment strategy.

    Icon Image
    Step 5: Ongoing Evaluation

Ongoing evaluation helps us determine whether you are proceeding toward your financial destination as anticipated. We monitor your performance on an ongoing basis and may alter our strategies to help accommodate changing circumstances in your life or trends in the financial markets.

    Next Steps

If you are ready to begin building your financial foundation or continue to work towards your goals, let us know. If you want to explore what a financial plan with our team could look like, let's schedule a time for a 30-minute connection conversation.

Investment Philosophy and Key Parts of my Practice

Here at Morgan Stanley, we believe that unemotional discipline, risk management and patience is key to long-term investment success. We identify macro investment themes, opportunities and risks with top-down analysis. We then use bottom-up research to determine appropriate security and investment product selection. While the digital age provides convenience and news in real-time, volatility has become the new norm. Therefore, we hedge our investment strategies to balance our long-term outlook with near-term or unexpected risks and volatility. We match our investors' needs and risk tolerance to create the most appropriate portfolio.

Financial Planning

Goals are personal. Wealth Management should be too. Whatever it is you want to achieve, I am here to help. Working with me as your Financial Advisor, paired with our technology, is a great way to access advice and build a wealth plan. I will work with you to help you uncover your needs, manage risk, and build a customized plan to help you reach your financial goals.

Morgan Stanley Goals Planning System (GPS) is a focus on goals-based planning. Within this framework, we have a goals-based platform that includes a brokerage investment analysis tool (GPS Platform). While securities held in your investment advisory accounts may be included in the analysis, the reports generated from the GPS Platform are not financial plans nor constitute a financial planning service. A financial plan generally seeks to address a wide spectrum of your long-term financial needs, and can include recommendations about insurance, savings, tax and estate planning, and investments, taking into consideration your goals and situation, including anticipated retirement or other employee benefits. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC ("Morgan Stanley") will only prepare a financial plan at your specific request using Morgan Stanley approved financial planning software. If you would like to have a financial plan prepared for you, please consult with a Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor. To understand the differences between brokerage and advisory relationships, clients should consult their Financial Advisor, or review our Understanding Your Brokerage and Investment Advisory Relationships brochure available at http://www.morganstanley.com/ourcommitment/

1Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan's investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan's flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan's investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state's own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state's tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.

8An investment in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor’s ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) before investing. The prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF. To obtain a prospectus, contact your Financial Advisor or visit the ETF company’s website. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing.

10Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
