Welcome

Welcome to the Lynch/DeFreytas/Ferguson Team at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management – where excellence meets expertise.

Our team combines the talents and experience of Private Wealth Advisors Kevin Lynch, Jonathan DeFreytas, and Kyler Ferguson with the vast resources of a global financial services firm to help highly accomplished entrepreneurs, executives and their families manage their finances.

The team consists of six highly skilled financial professionals dedicated to helping preserve and enhance the financial conditions of an exceptional group of valued clients by addressing their planning, governance, liability management, and investing needs.

We take a holistic approach to managing our clients’ wealth, grounded in investment strategy, but covering virtually every aspect of your financial life: risk management, philanthropic endeavors, trusts and estate structures, and even family dynamics and lifestyle management issues. Our goal is to help preserve and grow your financial, family and social capital so that it can have the greatest positive impact today and for generations to come.

Our clients have built businesses, led substantial corporations and created significant wealth in the process. They are devoted to their families, active in their communities and have wide-ranging interests. Most have reached the level of success where managing their personal finances requires greater time, attention and specialized knowledge than they are able to provide on their own.

Serving as your go-to advisors on any financial matter, Kevin, Jonathan, and Kyler provide solid advice from a seasoned perspective across a broad range of wealth management disciplines. We look forward to the opportunity to learn more about you and your family, and discussing the resources we can place at your disposal.
We believe in the following principles:
  • Integrity - Conduct business (and life) guided by an unyielding moral compass.
  • Objectivity – Focus on advice rather than product, looking at markets dispassionately, debating all sides of an issue.
  • Opportunity – Tactically allocate to and seize market opportunities.
  • Accountability – Communication, Reporting, Responsiveness (24x7 access), and Transparency.

Source: Barron's.com (May 2024) 2024 Barron's Top 250 Private Wealth Management Teams awarded in 2024. The teams are ranked on a variety of factors, including their size and shape, their regulatory records and credentials of their members, and the resources they have at their disposal to serve their client bases. The rankings are meant as a starting point for clients looking for an advisor—a first-pass vetting that can help investors narrow a search. Every advisor will have his or her own approach to investing, financial planning, and other services. Clients are encouraged to approach a search for an advisor the way they would a search for a doctor—interviewing multiple professionals and getting opinions from multiple third parties. Rankings are based on the opinions of Barron's and this ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience. This ranking is not indicative of the Financial Advisor’s future performance. Morgan Stanley Private Markets

Many of today’s companies stay private longer, with more of their valuation being created before they become publicly traded. Morgan Stanley Private Markets connects a broad network of potential private investors in an accessible ecosystem, allowing eligible clients to invest directly, or buy and sell shares of private companies.

Transaction Planning

Many of our clients come to us following a significant liquidity event. In advising them, we separate our advice into three distinct phases:
Pre-Liquidity
We think of our clients’ personal balance sheets in the same way many of them approach their businesses’ balance sheets. Before undertaking a sale or monetization, we help clients think through various estate planning and tax sensitive strategies to maximize after-sale proceeds as well as optimize generational wealth transfer.
At-Liquidity
Often the time leading up to the sale of a business is stressful. There are endless tasks and managing the process is all-encompassing. Our advice is our clients should leave long-term investment decisions for another day. Instead, we engage our Morgan Stanley colleagues specializing in Strategic Liquidity Management. Together, we build clients customized cash management portfolios that tailor fixed income maturities with our clients’ specific liabilities and risk tolerance. You can find their biographies under “Strategic Partners.”
Post-Liquidity
Once we have an effective cash management strategy in place, and our clients are ready, we begin the long-term investment and family office planning process.

Market Information Delayed 20 Minutes
1Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria.
