My Biography

With 30+ years of experience as a Wall Street investment professional, Louise Shim’s practice focuses on Multi-Generational Family Wealth Management for ultra-high net worth (“UHNW”) families and Portfolio Management. Since 1992, Louise has held roles as an analyst, trader, and/or portfolio manager for mutual funds, institutional pension funds and endowments, family offices, small businesses, C-suite executives, high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families, and hedge funds. Her career includes being a founding partner of a hedge fund firm (1998 to 2005) and being Chief Investment Officer of an investment advisory boutique (2005 to 2010). Upon joining Morgan Stanley in January 2014, Louise has been utilizing the world class resources and full suite of financial solutions available on Morgan Stanley’s world-class platform, to analyze client specific situations and implement customized wealth management strategies to help her clients seek to achieve their financial goals on a risk-adjusted and tax-efficient basis. Louise’s motto: “Let’s help you elevate your wealth and expand your vistas.”

Louise’s credentials as an Advisor are extensive. As a Private Wealth Advisor, Louise is in Morgan Stanley’s exclusive Private Wealth Management division, which only has ~600 Private Wealth Advisors out of the ~16,000 Financial Advisors overall at Morgan Stanley as of December 2024. The Private Wealth Management (“PWM”) division is dedicated to serving the firm’s most affluent clients. PWM functions as a boutique to provide you with direct access to UHNW subject matter experts to help you address your specific complex challenges in managing your significant wealth. As a Family Wealth Director, Louise has obtained a prestigious certification that is obtained by about 5% of Morgan Stanley’s advisors as of December 2024. This program provides rigorous training on how to better handle complex financial needs for ultra UHNW clients, especially with regard to Trusts Taxes and Estate Planning, Family Dynamics and Governance, Business Monetization Planning, and Philanthropy, in addition to Investment and Risk Management Strategies. As a Senior Portfolio Management Director, Louise manages diversified portfolios of individual securities, ETFs, and/or combinations of both on a discretionary basis. It is Louise’s personal goal to increase the representation of women as Portfolio Managers.

Louise graduated from M.I.T. with two Bachelor of Science degrees, in Mechanical Engineering and Management Science. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. She lives in Manhattan and enjoys golfing, skiing, traveling, and all the joys of parenting her daughter. Louise was recognized in 2024 as a Forbes Best -in-State Wealth Advisor and 2024-2025 Forbes Women's Best-In-State Wealth Advisor.

    2024 Federal Gift and Estate Tax Exemption
    The federal gift and estate tax exemption amounts for 2024 have been announced and the annual rise in these figures continues. For 2024, the federal estate and gift tax exemption will jump to $13,610,000, an increase of $690,000 from 2023.This means an individual can leave or gift to non-spouse beneficiaries $13,610,000 without having to pay federal transfer taxes. A married couple will be able to shield $27,220,000. The maximum federal estate and gift tax rate remains at 40% for 2024.

About Victoria D'Addario

Victoria was born and raised in Lincoln Park, New Jersey only a short ride outside of Hoboken where she now resides. She attended Sacred Heart University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance, coupled with a minor in Economics. During her attendance at SHU, she was a varsity athlete having played softball for all four years, the last two of which she was captain of the Division I team. She began her professional career at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2017 and moved to Morgan Stanley in 2021. Victoria brings her proven work ethic and precise attention to detail to our team, and Morgan Stanley, as she leads all administrative and internal operational functions.

Victoria continues to commit herself to a rigorous workout schedule to this day, and in her free time enjoys taking time to see her family and traveling with her friends.

About Tony Silva

Tony Silva is a Private Banker serving Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management offices in New York City.

Tony began his career in financial services in 1995 and joined Morgan Stanley in 2015 as a Pipeline Manager in our Home Loans organization. In 2017, he was promoted to Project Manager on that team. Tony assumed his current position in February, 2018. Prior to his tenure at the firm, Tony held a number of roles at mortgage financing institutions.

Tony received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Rutgers University. He and his family reside in Livingston, New Jersey.

When not at the office, Tony enjoys traveling, playing soccer, and spending time with family and friends.
