We serve our clients as their personal family wealth advisor. Our mission is to evaluate and understand their important and sensitive family issues so that we can help them realize their goals.

We first seek to understand each client’s situation before recommending tailored investment solutions. As our clients’ needs evolve and the global markets change, we work diligently to align and rebalance portfolios to meet client objectives.

We build structure and manage customized portfolios in a transparent and liquid manner. This gives us the flexibility to design strategic investment strategies and incorporate tactical ideas.

We provide objective advice, but also think from an investor’s perspective. Our recommendations may include passive investments, our own discretionary strategies and/or investments chosen from the expansive Morgan Stanley open architecture platform.

We consider investments across every asset class, narrowing our focus to those opportunities we believe to be best suited for our clients’ specific needs and objectives.

Meet Lerner Winderbaum Team

About Me

Anna Winderbaum has been advising wealthy families, foundations and family offices on a comprehensive and holistic basis for over 20 years. She works closely with clients to analyze their overall asset allocation and structure integrated and customized investment solutions that meet their current and long-term goals. Anna also helps her clients navigate the complexities of wealth and the changes of circumstance that occur in their business and personal lives. Anna and her partner, Joseph Lerner, lead an experienced seven person team within Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management division. Together, Anna and her team deliver the vast capabilities of the Firm to their clients in a highly customized manner. 

In 2018, Anna was named to Forbes Magazine’s list of “Top Women Wealth Advisors” and America’s Best-in-State Wealth Advisors. She was also recognized by Barron’s as one of the "Top 100 Women Financial Advisors" in the United States for the seventh year and one of the Top 1200 Financial Advisors in the United States for the second year.

Anna received her MBA in finance from Columbia Business School and her B.A. in international relations from Tufts University. Anna currently serves on the Board of Trustees and is a former Officer of B’nai Jeshurun Synagogue. Anna has also held many leadership roles for UJA-Federation on a national and local level; she is currently a member of the Investment Management Division Executive Committee and the Women's Executive Circle. She previously served as the Chair of the Investment Committee and member of the Board of Trustees of a New York City Private School.

About Me

Joseph Lerner advises families of significant wealth on matters involving how they preserve, maintain, grow and transfer their wealth. With over 22 years of investing experience in various aspects of the financial markets, Joseph and his partner, Anna Winderbaum, lead a seven person team within Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management division. Joseph draws upon his particular skills as a longtime investor in equities, private equity and alternatives as well as his training as an attorney. Together, Joseph and his team deliver the vast capabilities of the Firm in a customized and relevant manner to solve complex investment considerations. 

In 2018, Joseph was recognized by Barron's as one of the Top 1200 Financial Advisors in the United States and by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s Best-in-State Wealth Advisors. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, Joseph served as a senior relationship manager at Credit Suisse Private Bank in New York for 15 years after starting his career in wealth management at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in 1999. Prior to CS/DLJ, Joseph worked in the alternatives space in both hedge funds and private equity. 

Joseph graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with a Juris Doctor and is an inactive member of the NY Bar Association. He received his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, and serves on the executive board of the JCC of Tenafly, New Jersey. He has previously served on various finance & investment sub-committees for local non-profits.

Kiran has over 10 years of experience as an investment analyst, covering both equity and fixed income portfolios. He is an integral part of the team's asset management process. He focuses on investment research, portfolio analysis, providing asset allocation and plays an integral role in client performance reviews. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in July 2016, Kiran worked with Credit Suisse for over 9 years in New York and Mumbai.

Kiran is a Chartered Accountant from India and is a CFA Charter holder.
