About Mark W. Powell

Mark W. Powell, a Senior Investment Management Consultant with Morgan Stanley, has served families as their personal financial advisor for the last eighteen years. Four things distinguish Mark’s practice:
1. Quarterly Reviews - Mark does not believe in random or inconsistent communication with clients. Instead, Mark reaches out to his clients for Quarterly Reviews every January, April, July and October. This frequency and clock-like consistency deepens understanding of client goals and market trends as well as forging strong and lasting relationships. Warren Buffett. Mark has long studied the life and strategies of Warren Buffett. Don’t be surprised to hear Buffett quoted in every Quarterly Review. Here’s a Buffett favorite, “My success can be attributed to three things; living in America, lucky genes, and compound interest.”
2. Behavioral Finance - In 2002, psychologist Daniel Kahneman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for his work in behavioral finance. His work revealed why and how people tend to repeatedly make bad investment decisions. Mark helps each client understand and eliminate the common mistakes of financial behavior.
3. Relationships - Mark seeks to act in the best interest of the clients with full transparency and without conflicts of interest. He believes this is vital in forming long and positive client relationships.

6The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
