As a child growing up in China, the vibrant red envelopes I received on my birthday and during the Lunar New Year celebrations held a special significance. These were not just cash gifts, but symbols of the hope and prosperity my family wished for me. I cherished these envelopes, never spending the money, but instead depositing it into my custodial bank accounts each year, always seeking the highest interest rates possible. These red envelopes and the lessons my mother taught me about the importance of saving became my first introduction to the world of money management.

Given my affinity for numbers, it came as no surprise I went into a finance career at Credit Suisse helping those new to wealth management. It was there that I discovered even finance experts struggled with managing their own wealth, often due to a lack of time or dedicated focus. This ignited my passion for helping others with wealth to manage their finances. I delved into the intricacies of portfolio construction, focusing on alternative investments such as hedge funds and private equity funds, and options trading to help my clients balance risk and liquidity as a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. I obtained the prestigious Certified Financial Planner™ designation, and I particularly enjoyed working with C-level executives with complex compensation structures, devising a realistic tailored roadmap to grow their current wealth to retirement while building their legacy. Knowledgeable of public companies' rules and regulations concerning corporate executives and "Section 16" officers, I often advise them on the sales, loans, gifts, and purchases of the stock awards and stock options in their companies.

For 15 years, I have had the privilege of advising more than 100 households, including women, business owners, CEOs, "Section 16" persons of public companies, and trustees. Our clients deserve a progressive approach to managing their finances. I meet them wherever they may be on their personal journey. Many of them have been working with me for over 10 years, and I have helped them navigate life's many milestones through tailored financial strategies.

The clients I and my team serve often come to us with a wide range of questions and concerns, such as:

  • My spouse has passed away, and I am not familiar with our financial health. How do I maintain our current lifestyle and leave money for my grandchildren?
  • As a women investor, how do I make sure I am given the time and education in an easy to-understand format and treated as an equal-partner of my spouse?
  • Should I set up a family office?
  • How should I be invested?
  • How can I make the best use of my external advisors to oversee my portfolio and to source investment opportunities, such as niche and limited capacity managers, first-time funds?
  • I plan to purchase a primary or secondary home, what finance options are available to me?
  • I hold many concentrated stocks in my portfolio, how do I reduce my risk and enhance returns?
  • Is my family prepared to make the right adjustments if I die unexpectedly?
  • I have set up a private foundation, what can I do with it?
  • My money is tied up in private companies and startups, what can I do to obtain liquidity?
  • How do I leave control of my business to one child while being fair to the others?
  • Who can I trust to help me make decisions?

My role goes beyond just investment management. The long-term impact my team provides to clients helps not only grow their wealth, but also helps save time, preserve, and transfer their assets. From the red envelopes of my childhood to the significant impact I've had on my clients, my path has been one of lifelong financial empowerment. I am a financial confidant to my clients, walking alongside them on their journey to confidence, clarity, and prosperity.

Whether you are seeking to maintain your current lifestyle, navigate complex financial decisions, or unlock new opportunities, I invite you to embark on this journey with me. Together, we will help harness the power of your wealth to create a brighter, more financially successful future.

The 2025 Russell Investments study found that investors who work with a competent financial advisor can expect an additional 4.87% in annual returns, due to factors like active rebalancing, behavioral coaching, customized experience and wealth planning, and tax-efficient investing. Similarly, according to a study that analyzed 4,000 households from 2010-2014, those with a financial advisor saw their asset values increase by 16.4%, compared to just 1.7% for households without an advisor. There are approximately 330,000 Financial Advisors; only 30% are certified.

Fun facts about me:

  • A sustainer of the Junior League and had helped 500 young adults through volunteering at the Covenant House.
  • An MBA graduate with honors from Johns Hopkins University.
  • A member of the Dickinson College Alumni Council serving a multi-year term. I am part of a diverse group of volunteers, working with the school leadership to strengthen the academic and social mission of Dickinson and advance financial literacy for students and alumni.

We manage over $100M investments for Corporate Executives with concentrated stocks.

Women and Wealth: Empowering Women through Financial Planning

One of the key questions our female clients often ask is:
Does my financial advisor deeply understand my unique challenges and goals as a woman, and how do I effectively communicate these with them?

This is a critical concern as studies show that only 15% to 20% of financial advisors are women, and an even smaller fraction hold senior-level positions in the industry. This gender imbalance can make it difficult for women to find advisors who truly empathize with their perspectives and priorities. In fact, according to a New York Life study, almost 40% of women say that financial advisors often patronize them.

We believe that financial advisors need to evolve to truly listen to women's goals and concerns. The landscape of household income is shifting as more women are making more income. The share of women who earn as much as or significantly more than their husband has roughly tripled over the past 50 years. According to Pew Research, 45% of all married women now earn the same as or more than their spouse compared to 11% in 1972. As women's financial contributions increase, the share of marriages in which the husband is the main breadwinner will continue to decline. Women are looking for a financial advisor who listens and understands their financial goals.

As a female-led team with more than 50% of our clients is women, we have a deep understanding of the unique financial challenges that women face, from the gender pay gap to planning for maternity leave. We take the time to truly listen to our client's goals and concerns, crafting tailored strategies that address their specific needs. We are proud to serve a growing number of female clients who are trailblazers in their respective fields. By empowering women to take an active role in their financial planning, we are not only helping them achieve their personal and professional goals but also positioning them to become responsible stewards of the great wealth transfer that is underway.

Together, we can create a plan that aligns with your values, empowers you to make informed decisions, and helps you realize the future you envision.

You may ask the question: Should I set up a Family Office?

The answer depends on what services your family need and want, and which services are better to be retained in house, outsourced, or consolidated. Families of substantial wealth are likely in need of some kinds of family office. We can help you identify the structures and criteria for potential service providers of your family office.

You may face the daunting challenge that involves navigating the complex mix of issues relating to the impact that wealth has on your family. Our team helps you address these sensitive matters and is dedicated to defining the family office experience.

    Wealth Strategies and Planning Tools

    You may ask the question:
What is the appropriate asset allocation that balances risk and reward and will best help me achieve my goals?

We take a collaborative approach to integrating your investment strategy with your comprehensive trust, tax, and estate planning strategies. By working closely with you and your team of advisors, we leverage the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Global Investment Committee's forecasted capital market assumptions to simulate the potential outcomes of your investment portfolios. This simulation process incorporates your unique circumstances, such as taxes and anticipated cash flows, to evaluate more "real-life" potential outcomes. This allows us to determine if the risk profiles of your investment portfolios are appropriate for you and your family, ensuring your wealth is positioned to be transferred according to your wishes. By understanding the intention behind the legal structures in your estate plan and the risk profiles of your respective beneficiaries, we can strategically "locate" investments within these entities to ensure your asset allocation aligns seamlessly with your wealth transfer objectives.

4Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
