My Story

I strongly believe that every person has a right to be financially educated and I am passionate about engaging people in regards to their financial well-being

I work with people who have arrived at a certain level of financial security in their life. They are well situated, but are spending too much time caring for the assets they now have. Wealth tends to bring complexity. One of my goals is simplifying and streamlining complex financial matters for you. I have gone the extra mile to earn some of the industry’s most advanced designations, which gives me many more tools with which to address your unique issues.

I received my bachelor of science degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia’s College of Education. That passion for teaching has continued to serve me and my clients throughout my successful career as a Financial Advisor. I often speak to groups about a myriad of financial topics: Retirement, funding for children and grandchildren’s education, educating the next generation about financial values and helping ensure that the money you leave behind can accomplish your wishes. I help you hone in on the purposes of your money – and then we design a custom plan that strives to meet those objectives. The plan is totally tailored to you – not because of your age or gender – but because of your unique values and the goals you want to accomplish with your money.

As your Financial Advisor, I want to make sure that if you are working at the age of 62, it’s because you want to, not because you have to. The plan we create together will help you to retire at your own discretion, rather than someone else’s.

I am uniquely qualified to help individuals and companies with their retirement plans. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, my role is to help you navigate through the three distinct stages of retirement in a way that makes sense for you:

1. Growing your wealth to fund your future goals

2. Ensuring a smooth transition to retirement

3. Maintaining your chosen lifestyle throughout your life

I am also credentialed to help companies design, install and maintain their retirement plans. As a Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM, I hold the nation’s premier credential focusing on retirement plan administration. I am skilled at analyzing laws, rules and regulations and understanding how they apply to my corporate retirement clients’ 401(k) and deferred compensation plans.

Successful retirement planning takes focus and planning. The challenge we all face with retirement is having enough resources so that our lives in retirement years will not be diminished.
Planning for your “what ifs” is one of the most important things we can do together. As someone who’s seen firsthand the myriad challenges clients encounter, I understand the vital importance of strategizing for the times when life pitches a curveball at us.

Although “what if” planning can seem daunting, in actuality it provides you with a sense of confidence. There is a plan in place for when that nighttime worry turns into a reality.  Together, we’ll talk about your concerns and plan for them so they don’t knock you off course. Some of the situations that my clients have planned for include:

•What if my child can’t make it on their own?

•What if I become the caregiver for my parents?

•What if I lose a spouse early in life?

•What if I or a family member has significant health challenges?

•What if I need long-term care?

•What if I have to settle an estate where there’s no will?

•What if I or my spouse lose a job?

My deep knowledge and personal experience with many “what ifs” can help you plan for the potential impact without sacrificing your goals.

7Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice.
