About Us

I grew up in the beautiful beach town of Southampton, NY; catering to wealthy, “city” people. I dreamed of one day living and working in the Big Apple and hoping to experience the hustle & bustle, glamour and financial opportunity that came along with it. I received my bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Villanova University in 1990 and worked for Deloitte and Touches’ Parsippany, NJ office for three years where I earned my CPA license and gained invaluable experience as an auditor. In 1993 my dream came true! I moved to New York City taking a position in the controller’s group with Lehman brothers which is known for its infamous collapse during the financial crisis of 2008.

I left Lehman in 1996 to join UBS where I helped coordinate the North American Budget process and eventually worked on the trading floor supporting a branch of the fixed income desk. This is where I began to envision what I was I meant to do with my career; to invest and help individuals achieve their financial goals. Fate eventually led me back to the Philadelphia area where I enrolled as a Financial Advisor Trainee with PaineWebber during the technology bubble of 2000. Those first few tumultuous years in the business taught me the value of having a disciplined process and strategy so I became a Certified Financial Planner helping others identify their wealth goals and implementing detailed financial plans to guide them through challenging times.

Outside of the office, I am the father of two teenage boys, one of whom is currently enrolled at Arizona State University studying Financial Planning and the other is a freshman at The Shipley School. I was married to my wife Annie in November of 2023 and now also have two terrific step-children, I spend my time away from the office watching my younger son play soccer, golfing, snowboarding, traveling and tossing a frisbee to my Boston Terrier.

4Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
