Nearly two decades of working with clients’ estate and retirement plans has taught me that your goals, interests, passions, values, needs and commitments can and should be factored into your financial decisions. Understanding the entirety of your life helps me to shape and customize my approach to ensure that your investments and overall financial plans are consistent with your views and values.

Clients often bring up charitable giving when we begin talking about value-based planning. I can help you to focus your charitable planning on organizations that promote your values and beliefs, as well as create an ongoing results-oriented strategy.

Value-based planning conversations naturally include discussions about your legacy. I am very aware of the nuances and challenges of carrying forward the wealth that you’ve created and/or inherited. Working together with your attorney and CPA, I can help to create a plan for passing on your assets in a way that honors your values as well as your financial commitments.

I thoroughly enjoy working with my women clients. Our conversations about wealth management often begin from a holistic place – understanding their investments in the context of the big picture of their life. This is a perspective that I deeply appreciate. I believe it’s important to focus on the well-being of your entire family, knowing that every decision we make together may impact many people.

Together, we tackle the financial side of life issues such as a birth, death, educational need, career shift, health issue, or the beginning or end of a relationship. During those times of transition, I work with your CPA and attorney to help ensure everyone stays on the same page.
But, beyond those issues, I help you navigate other situations that are unique to women. We tackle the consequences of out-earning a partner, the challenges of divorce if you’ve been out of the workforce for a long time, your choices around caring for aging parents or raising grandchildren. It’s my job to listen carefully to your hopes and concerns, and provide a map for moving forward with confidence.
During the first decade of my career, I focused almost entirely on retirement and estate strategies for private wealth clients. I’ve found that no matter how successful you’ve been at creating wealth for yourself and your family, transitioning to retirement requires a different mindset. You will no longer be focused on acquiring wealth – now, your financial concerns shift to preservation and distribution. You need to think income, rather than assets, and with that new mindset comes a whole host of new tax questions and implications. Even successful investors can become tangled in these new demands.

I’ve been helping clients plan and navigate successful retirements for more than 15 years. Some of the issues we consider include:
• Mapping out your retirement income and expenses
• Considering healthcare options
• Downsizing debt
• Creating a strategy around Social Security benefits
• Focusing on minimizing the impact of inflation and taxes

And, of course, estate planning is part of the process. For many years I have coordinated with my clients’ CPAs and attorneys to create cohesive strategies not only for a financial legacy, but for one that passes on your values.
I am based in Pleasanton, California, where many of my clients are executives or key employees in the tech industry. They are smart, busy people who can be very knowledgeable about financial markets and prefer to pick their own stocks or other investments. They turn to me for a different kind of assistance.

Since my executive clients tend to be in high tax brackets, I usually begin there and work backwards. After all, when it comes to investing, it's not just how much you make that matters—it’s how much you keep after taxes. We consider the role of losses, the timing of investments and investment selection. Are your current investments invested in the right things and the right places? Are they tax efficient? Do they make sense to your overall financial strategy?
