The Pillars of My Practice

Knowledge is Power.
Our goal is to help educate you and your family so that you’re confident about the financial decisions you make today, tomorrow, and beyond. That’s why we:

• Make ourselves available to help answer your questions big and small.

• Maintain open and ongoing communication with you to help ensure nothing is overlooked.

• Host frequent seminars on relevant topics – such as retirement planning, healthcare costs in retirement, estate planning strategies, social security, and alternative investments.
Your Money Should Work as Hard as You Do
Put simply, hard work is in our DNA. John and Janie’s past experience as NCAA Division I athletes helps bring a unique discipline and drive to our team – and your outcomes. Day in and day out, we work diligently to help you reach your long-term financial goals. What’s more, we place a special emphasis on nurturing lifelong relationships with clients that are built on respect, rapport, trust, and attention to detail.
You are Unique. Your Financial Strategy Should be too.
Smart wealth management strategies don’t come in “one-size-fits-all.” That’s why our financial plans are focused on who you are and what’s important to you. This applies to your portfolio, too. Along with my distinctive Alternative Investments designation, I leverage the industry-leading resources of Morgan Stanley's Global Investment Committee to manage client portfolios – taking full advantage of the most up-to-date research, analysis, and leading trading platforms in the industry.

My Process

Like a fingerprint – each client’s financial picture is truly unique. That’s why custom financial solutions are the absolute bedrock of my practice.
    Icon Image
    Step 1: Understand Your Situation
My process begins with you. I start by asking about your career, your family, your interests, and your risk tolerance. I want to learn what motivates you, what concerns you, and what dreams you have for your children and grandchildren. Then I compile all this information to craft your personalized financial plan.
    Icon Image
    Step 2: Develop a Plan
Our comprehensive, goal-based plans are tailored to your specific needs and goals. At the same time, they reflect my team’s “out of the box” thinking, and address wealth preservation strategies through legacy planning.
    Icon Image
    Step 3: Implement Recommendations
Backed by the global resources of one of the world’s largest wealth management firms, we are able to address complex financial situations as we execute your investment strategy and implement your wealth management plan.
    Icon Image
    Step 4: Monitor
Ongoing monitoring helps you stay the course, coordinate with other professionals, and enables us to scan for both threats and opportunities to ensure clients avoid financial pitfalls.

The Power of “Alts”

Why “Alts” Matter
Alternative Investments aren’t a new phenomenon, but these days investors are flocking to the “Alts” sector more than ever. That’s because people are up against a host of new investment obstacles – from rising inflation rates to heightened market volatility – that Alternative Investments can help overcome. Not only can Alts help protect you from being “overexposed” in one investment sector, they can also help you seek out new frontiers for growth and access more attractive sources of return.
My Investment Edge
With my distinctive Alternative Investment Director designation – which is held by only 2% of Morgan Stanley Advisors in Ohio as of 2/22 – I’m able to tap into an increasingly diverse set of investment options beyond traditional stocks, bonds, and cash. Plus, I’m backed by the power of Morgan Stanley’s unique Alternative Investments Platforms. That means you have exclusive access to funds that may otherwise be available only to institutional investors – including Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Private Credit, Private Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Exchange Funds.
The Takeaway
Whether through enhanced returns, risk management, increased diversification, or tax benefits – Alternative Investments can offer benefits beyond what traditional stock and bond funds are typically able to provide. At the end of the day, that means you can be more effective in reaching your goals.

Keeping you Informed and Prepared

Life can be filled with unpredictable events. It’s how we manage these moments that determine our future success. That’s why I like to keep you prepared and informed every step of the way. Whether you’re dealing with transitional life events or simply want to better understand market cycles, my team and I host seminars on a variety of topics so that you know what you need to prepare for, how, and when.

About Matt Harris

Matt Harris, CEPA®
Vice President
Portfolio Manager
Financial Advisor

Matt Harris is a Financial Advisor with the Celestial Group at Morgan Stanley in Cincinnati, Ohio. Leveraging his extensive experience in institutional investing, he is dedicated to guiding clients toward achieving their sophisticated long-term financial objectives.

A graduate of Denison University, Matt spent the first 19 years of his career on Wall Street, advising Institutional clients and large family offices on portfolio construction, research, and trading strategies. He began his career with Morgan Stanley in 1998 with the international/domestic institutional equity group. He went on to serve as Head of Trading at several well-respected boutique firms in the New York area, including Tuohy Brothers, Madison Williams, and Janney Montgomery Scott. Prior to rejoining Morgan Stanley, he also served as Director of Sales at Clarkson Capital, where he recommended equity/debt research strategies and public/private investment banking deals to portfolio managers and analysts. In 2015, driven by a desire to engage directly with affluent individuals and families, Matt transitioned to his current role as a Financial Advisor.

With a robust investing background, Matt brings a wealth of analytical prowess to his role guiding business owners, pre-retirees, and retirees. But his practice goes beyond portfolio management. Blending financial planning, estate planning, tax optimization strategies, and charitable giving — along with dynamic portfolio management — he equips his clients with the tools and knowledge necessary to help navigate the complexities of high net worth. He has also undertaken rigorous coursework to become a Certified Exit Planning Advisor® (CEPA®) — an elite designation he leverages to deliver tailored solutions to business owners and entrepreneurs leading up to, during, and after the sale of their company. Bottom line: Matt doesn't just manage wealth; he helps cultivate financial empowerment for his clients for decades and generations to come.

Outside the office, Matt lives in Cincinnati with his wife Heather and their 3 children: Hunter, Madison and Lilly. A former NCAA Lacrosse player, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys staying active in his free time.
