What Is a Family Wealth Director?

Jeff was named a Family Wealth Director at Morgan Stanley in 2013. This credential – achieved by fewer than four percent of the firm’s Financial Advisors as of January 2022 – places him among an elite group of advisors qualified to serve the sophisticated needs of ultra-high net worth families.

As a Family Wealth Director, Jeff has access to an extensive range of resources needed to help families manage the complex, multigenerational challenges of significant wealth.

Jeff’s 25 years of experience, knowledge and insights – combined with access to a broad range of advisory services – enables him to deliver a distinctive experience, managing the simple to the complex all under one roof.
We Help You:
  • Organize and manage virtually all aspects of your wealth, helping make sure each component is set up correctly to work optimally together
  • Maintain family unity across generations with a focus on family mission, governance, conflict management, and family endowments
  • Preserve and transfer your family assets efficiently to the next generation and the causes you support
  • Manage some of the more complex aspects of your life
  • Access dedicated resources tailored specifically to your needs and goals

A Team Approach

We believe you are entitled to the best advice possible. As a result, we start by assembling a special team of professionals specifically for you. We then lead this team – in partnership with your accountant and attorney – to identify and implement the best strategies for you and your situation. Our only goal is to do what is right for you, putting you in the center of every decision.
    Icon Image
    1: Discovery
We begin our relationship with an in-depth conversation to understand what is important to you, your family and your future. We learn everything about you, including a review of your assets and legal documents and your goals and priorities. We also explain how we use a partnership approach to bring the brightest industry professionals together to address the complexities of your wealth.
    Icon Image
    2: Family Office Team
As part of this step, we utilize industry-leading financial planning tools to analyze your current financial situation. We also talk to your local tax and legal professionals as well as other specialists within Morgan Stanley to build a strategic Family Office Team specifically for you. Together, we discuss the best recommendations for your situation. We then prepare a comprehensive financial plan that is exclusive to you.
    Icon Image
    3: VIP Meeting
In this step, we present your tailored plan in detail. All members of your Family Office Team are part of this meeting. We explain why we are recommending each strategy and discuss the pros and cons for each solution. We will then refine your plan based on our discussions. Once approved by you, we create an implementation plan.
    Icon Image
    4: Implementation
Here, we start putting your plan into action. We first took apart all of your financial puzzle pieces, reviewing each one so that we can reassemble it as best as possible. In this step, we establish new accounts, initiate the account transfer process, walk you through your new statement and introduce you to all the tools and resources now available to you. We believe in full transparency and keep you involved each step of the way.
    Icon Image
    5: Ongoing Service & Care
Committed to a first-class experience, we focus on developing longstanding relationships that provide special value to you and your family. We proactively call and meet with you to share updates on the current market environment, your investment portfolio and how you are progressing towards your goals. About Redding May

Redding was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, attended Cistercian Preparatory School, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School as a National Merit Scholarship recipient. Growing up alongside the internet, Redding played with Super Nintendo, dial-up modems, and spreadsheets. During high school he brought his love for technology together with finance, developing and maintaining assumption-driven financial forecast models for his father's clients.

Redding entered the wealth management industry in 2004, joining Merrill Lynch in the downtown Dallas office's operations department. After earning his securities licenses, he served as an associate with an advisory team focused on employee stock option plan administration servicing grants for nine publicly traded corporations; he then joined Merrill's Private Banking and Investment Group to manage an advisor transition from competition. During this period Redding also began studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and, inspired by a custom holiday client gift order, launched a local artisan chocolate brand with the chef - Dude, Sweet Chocolate.

Redding served for four years on the board of directors and audit and finance committee of The Family Place, an organization helping victims of family violence in North Texas. His next step in the financial world was to View Capital Advisors, joining their research team as an analyst assisting in all aspects the investment management process for high-net-worth clients. Redding was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2012 - however - Dude, Sweet Chocolate had grown significantly, and he decided to give it his full attention, spending the next ten years as a managing member handling operations, finance and accounting, distribution, and other non-culinary aspects of the business.

Redding reentered the wealth management industry in 2021 - joining Merrill Lynch months before his team transitioned to Morgan Stanley, where he now serves as a Wealth Management Analyst. Redding moved to Colorado Springs from Dallas in 2025, along with his wife and two young daughters who dance, swim, ball, fight, cry, joke, and laugh (and, soon, ski). When they are not available for entertainment, he reads; mostly non-fiction, especially science, tech, true crime, and history.
