About Andrew S Blackwell
Long before I found my passion as a financial advisor, I grew up in a working-class family outside of Boston and spent a great deal of time on my grandparent’s dairy farm in northern Vermont. The combined experience gave me a deep appreciation for Yankee ingenuity, the satisfaction of hard work, and above all the critical importance of carefully investing and protecting what you have earned. The lessons stuck with me when I went on to Dartmouth College where I rowed on the men’s heavyweight crew team, and when I started my advising career in 2001 with a desire to help other people realize and protect their own financial well-being.
Now, I run a wealth management practice at Morgan Stanley focused on the “safe passage” of wealth for my clients. To that end, I have acquired advanced designations in investment management (CIMA® at the Wharton School of Business), financial planning (CFP®), and alternative investments (Alternative Investment Director through the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association). I am also a Family Wealth Director (a designation achieved by less than 4% of Morgan Stanley advisors with a focus on advanced planning and investments) and an Investing with Impact Director within the firm, helping clients and other advisors implement investment decisions that mirror their values, with a particular interest in climate change. Our team was structured to offer a personalized concierge experience within a world-class global franchise for our clients. But above all, I deeply value the personal relationships that I am able to form with them and the trust they place on me to help guide their financial future.
Outside of work, I live on Boston’s South Shore with my wife Michelle, who has a busy medical career, and sons William and James. I still enjoy time with my family on Lake Champlain, as well as skiing, traveling, playing classic rock on my guitar, and exercising - though I don’t do any of it as well or as often as I’d like.

About Sam Bonifant
Growing up in a small town in New Hampshire, I never envisioned my life would lead me to joining a large firm in the middle of a city. Thankfully, I was raised by parents with a contagious work ethic and passion for everything they did. Their approach to life rubbed off on me as I’ve built a practice with clients that I’m so proud to work alongside every day. After graduating from Elon University and moving back to the Northeast, I found my calling as a financial advisor. My work is my passion, and after growing my business “brick by brick”, I now enjoy providing the best experience possible for every individual and family that I work with.
I believe that knowledge is power, and to that extent I’m proud to have earned designations that reflect my appetite for learning. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Alternative Investments Director and Workplace Advisor (equity compensation), my expertise covers both financial planning and investment strategies. Above all else, however, what’s most important to me is thoroughly understanding my clients’ situations and ultimately providing an excellent experience for everyone with whom I work. My fellow Ironside team members share the same values, which is why when we originally created Ironside Wealth Management, we did so with a vision of exceptional service and attention for our clients.
Today, I reside in Charlestown with my wife, Sarah. We love the seasons, so you can often find us hiking, skiing, or exploring the Green and White Mountains. I still have family in New Hampshire, so the Granite State is a home away from home. I’m an avid sports fan and played baseball my whole life, so when I’m in the city I love to spend time at Fenway Park or TD Garden. And while I’m often on the move, fall Sundays are the opposite – I’ll be on the living room couch cheering on the Patriots!

About Brian C. Mahoney
Growing up in Midtown Manhattan, I developed a keen awareness of the finance industry, with family discussions often revolving around the economy and stock market—topics that shaped the retail women's clothing stores my family operated. Attending Stonehill College in North Easton, MA, opened my eyes to life beyond New York City. There, I studied Economics, Political Science, and Business, and met my wife, Carol, during our freshman year.
My professional journey began in retail at Filene's in Boston, but I soon returned to the family business in Manhattan. A significant shift occurred when I started my career as a Financial Advisor in 1985, after connecting with the owner of Cowen & Company through tennis. This experience provided me with a comprehensive view of investment operations, trading, and research, and some of my initial clients—or their families—remain with me today.
After 14 years at Raymond James in Naples, Florida, while raising our three boys (who later attended Boston College, Villanova, and Fairfield), we realized we missed the seasons of the Northeast. In 2002, I joined Smith Barney, which merged with Morgan Stanley in 2009.
As an advisor, my primary focus has always been on managing portfolios for families and individuals, ensuring I understand their unique needs as they navigate life's changes. I emphasize building financial plans that accommodate long-term withdrawals in retirement, especially for women who may need income well into their 90s. I see my role as akin to that of a family business, providing trusted advice and personalized service. I am grateful for the many clients who have become friends, understanding that investing requires time, money, and patience.
A few years ago, I decided to explore a team-oriented approach and prioritized joining the Ironside Group, as I had developed a friendship with Andrew Blackwell over the years. I value collaboration, and being part of this team allows us to enhance the services we provide to our clients through diverse allocation models.
Outside of work, Carol and I live in the Newport, RI area, having moved from Boston several years ago. We have three adult children in LA, San Diego, and Manhattan, along with two grandchildren—one in New York and the other in San Diego. I enjoy walking, sports, playing tennis year-round, and nurturing my flower gardens. Carol and I cherish traveling to see our grandchildren wherever they may be, as well as spending time in Naples, FL, where we previously lived.
