WELCOME

Hoy Sherwood Group is a private wealth management team based in the Greater Boston area, built to serve the sophisticated needs of high-achieving executives, entrepreneurs, fund principals, and other stewards of significant wealth. The team’s formation reflects a shared institutional mindset and deep experience advising ultra-high-net-worth families—pairing rigorous investment strategy with thoughtful, planning-led guidance. With roots across investment banking, institutional capital markets, and private wealth management, the group is particularly focused on helping clients navigate complexity: concentrated equity positions, liquidity events, and advanced planning needs where tax-aware decision-making and disciplined execution can meaningfully shape outcomes.

Robert Hoy draws on more than 30 years across institutional investing and wealth management to craft highly customized investment strategies for a select national clientele. His background spans UBS Private Wealth Management and senior roles at Lehman Brothers in Private Investment Management and Institutional Capital Markets, following early career experience in M&A-focused investment banking at Dougherty Capitman & Company and The Chase Manhattan Bank. Complementing that perspective, Michael Sherwood brings more than two decades of experience in alternative investing, institutional trading, and wealth planning—often partnering with successful executives and entrepreneurs to design tax-efficient diversification strategies for concentrated public and private holdings, informed by prior work at UBS Private Wealth Management, venture capital firm Spencer Trask Ventures, and hedge fund Accipiter Capital Management. Together, Hoy and Sherwood established a team culture that prioritizes customization, discretion, and deep technical fluency—especially when clients face high-stakes transitions that demand coordination across investments, taxes, and long-term planning.

Supporting the group’s day-to-day delivery and client experience, Francesca Anselmo strengthens the team with a strong foundation in relationship management and portfolio support developed at Bain Capital and TwinFocus. She brings a service-oriented, detail-driven approach that helps translate strategy into consistent execution—enhancing the group’s ability to deliver responsive, results-oriented support while maintaining the high-quality standards expected by complex, multi-faceted clients. As a team, Hoy Sherwood Group brings an institutional caliber of thinking to private wealth—designed to help clients plan proactively, invest intentionally, and move forward with confidence.

Approach

Discovery Process
Investing the time to learn about you and your family; your assets and liabilities and the risk exposures, enables us to formulate strategies and customize the relationship to your needs.
Formulation of Tax, Trust and Estate Strategy
Working with your tax and legal advisors, we help analyze your income and estate tax circumstances to identify and tailor planning techniques that may be used to address your objectives.
Creation of Customized Strategic Asset Allocation
Your customized asset allocation reflects risk, opportunities and taxation across multiple entities, while integrating your investing and estate plans.
Integration of Tactical Asset Allocation
Short-term adjustments seek to capitalize on temporary market distortions. Before making adjustments, we analyze the impact of taxes and trading costs on potential returns.
Implementation of a Customized Wealth Strategy
After comprehensive due diligence and analysis of expected results across multiple market scenarios, strategies are chosen from our expansive investment platform.
Ongoing Assessment
In coordination with your other advisors, we can conduct ongoing reviews and comprehensive reporting to ensure that your strategy adapts to changing financial and family needs.

We work with a national clientele of financially successful families, building close working relationships that often span several decades and multiple generations. The knowledge and insight we gain over the course of these relationships allow us to serve as close family advisors who understand our clients' concerns and aspirations. Doing so enables us to offer proactive, creative solutions that align with their values as well as their goals.

While our clients tend to share the complex, multigenerational planning issues common among highly affluent families, they also face unique challenges that are specific to the ways in which they created their wealth. These clients include:

    Entrepreneurs

Across a broad range of industries at various levels of experience. We work with younger entrepreneurs who are in the startup phase of their enterprises, and seasoned leaders who have built and monetized multiple ventures.

    Senior Executives

Who have complex incentive compensation packages and concentrated equity positions in public companies. While most are highly sophisticated in financial matters, their personal, business and civic commitments often leave them little time to focus on their personal finances.

    Principal Investors

Including partners of successful venture capital, private equity and hedge funds, whose wealth tends to be highly concentrated in the funds they manage.

    Family Offices

Offering an extensive range of capabilities to extend and enhance the services they deliver to their owners, and the consultative expertise to improve their operations.
