Meet Franklin Rowan Group

About Scott A. Franklin

Scott Franklin is a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager with the Franklin Rowan Group at Morgan Stanley. With over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, Scott provides investment guidance and education to his clients; helping them realize the benefits of good markets, while weathering the storm of down markets.

Scott’s interest in finance started early, as he made his first stock investment with his lawn mowing money at the age of 16.  From that point on, he has been intrigued by the challenges and rewards of being an active participant in the financial markets.  Investments and finance became his passion for furthering his education. 

Scott graduated from the University of Iowa with a BBA in Finance.  Being involved in the student body at Iowa was important to Scott.  He was elected President of the undergraduate Student Business Senate, and served in that position for the 1981-1982 academic year. 

Since graduating college, Scott has enjoyed the many aspects of being a financial advisor.  He considers building trust and long-standing relationships with his clients as one of his proudest accomplishments.  Scott is very honored to have many 2nd and 3rd generation clients, and he has begun building 4th generation relationships as well. Scott enjoys remaining connected to his alma mater through leadership and sports.  He has previously served as the President of the National I-Club, and currently serves on the Executive Committee. 

Scott enjoys attending as many football and basketball games as possible.  He lives with his wife, Sue, in Urbandale.  They have 3 grown children.  In his spare time, Scott enjoys lacing up a pair of running shoes and exploring wherever he happens to be.  He also enjoys reading both classic and trending books.

About Lori L. Rowan

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Lori was an Insurance Specialist with Ameriprise Financial. She also has experience as an Regional Marketing Specialist at Prudential (formerly The Hartford), Retirement Sales Consultant at Van Kampen Investments, and Internal Wholesaler at Goldman Sachs. Lori received Van Kampen's "Above and Beyond" award in recognition of her outstanding performance and contributions to the Defined Contribution team. Lori earned a Bachelors degree in Business Management from the University of Northern Iowa. She also holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses, along with the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®) and Certified Long Term Care (CLTC) designations, and Insurance Licenses (Life, Variable Life, Variable Annuity, Accident & Health).

Lori is a native of Iowa and lives in the Des Moines area with her husband and three boys. Growing up a Hawkeye fan, becoming a Panther at UNI, and then marrying a Cyclone fan, Lori has learned the art of competitive diplomacy! She enjoys attending sporting events of all kinds, especially her boys' football and soccer games. In her free time, Lori also enjoys running and being active in local Community Outreach programs.

About Sally Belas

Sally Belas is a Senior Registered Associate, Financial Planning Associate with the Franklin Rowan Group at Morgan Stanley. With nearly four decades of experience in the financial services industry, Sally prides herself on outstanding personal service for all her clients.

Sally began her career in the financial services industry in 1980 and has performed many different roles. Her positions have included, Sales Assistant, Backup Cashier, Wire Operator, Tax Shelter Administrator, and Operations Manager. In 1994 she joined Dean Witter, now Morgan Stanley, as financial advisor for 15 years.  A Client service associate since 2009, Sally began working with Scott in 2012 and Lori in 2018. She holds her series 7, 63, and 66.

When Sally's not working, she enjoys spending time outside horseback riding, camping and swimming. She loves teaching children how to ride horses and plays the organ and piano for her church. Sally is also an animal's right advocate and regularly fosters and finds homes for stray animals.
