My Story and Services

With more than 20 years in the financial services industry, I focus on financial planning for individuals and families in Silicon Valley. Most of the families I work with have achieved their wealth through company stock options and restricted stock grants. I help these families with their concentrated stock positions offering diversification, liquidity, hedging and risk reduction strategies.

By taking my clients through the financial planning process I am able to deliver a comprehensive approach to wealth management, retirement planning, college planning, income generation, and wealth transfer. By working with client’s outside advisors, I can help clients focus on estate and tax planning techniques.

Myself, along with my associate Susannah O’Toole, joined Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in 2011 after a distinguished career at Merrill Lynch. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Menlo College.

I currently live in Pleasanton with my wife Kristina and two kids Addison and Kaiden. I enjoy playing Golf, Soccer, Skiing and spending time with family.

Sustainable Investing not only for ourselves but future generations as well

What that specifically means can vary between people. When we work together, we talk about the values and the impact you want to make with your money and your life. A major portion of how we create that impact is done through sustainable and ESG investments.

Why Sustainable Investing?

When many think about the future, they think about two very different outcomes. On one hand, they think about how technology will empower us to harness highly scarce resources more than we could ever dream; transforming healthcare, lifting millions out of poverty, and powering the planet without burning any fossil fuels. While on the other hand, others think about the almost impossible task of feeding 10 billion people and the immense drain that will have on almost all of our resources, infrastructure, economic disparities, and how it will deepen the already dangerous problems of climate change.

If protecting the planet while simultaneously investing for your own future and your children's is important to you, then ESG Investing is something that you should consider and we can help you along the way.

The global challenges we face in the coming decades pose critically important questions not only for our entire society, but also for each of us as individuals. For our clients - we will help you make these considerations about where you want your money invested and where you want the future to go.
    Icon Image
    Broad Based Sustainability
Exposure to companies from all sectors and industry groups that reflect the best environmental practices relative to their industry peers, invest in companies with sustainable practices, including efficient natural gas resource use and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
    Icon Image
    Climate Action
Investments in companies with products and services targeting key sustainability goals and climate solutions. Focus on investable themes that seek to improve climate change mitigation and/or adaptive solutions.
    Icon Image
    Fossil Fuel Awareness
Eliminate or reduce exposure to companies producing coal, oil, and nuclear energy or owning significant fossil fuel reserves or bottom environmental performers.
    Icon Image
    Gender Lens
Avoid exposure to companies with poor gender diversity records while seeking companies with leading gender diversity records, including strong policies and programs, and diverse boards of directors and senior managers.
    Icon Image
    Improving Lives
Investments focused on enterprises that deliver positive impact such as alleviating poverty and promoting community development.

8Alternative Investments are speculative and include a high degree of risk. An investor could lose all or a substantial amount of his/her investment. Alternative investments are appropriate only for qualified, long-term investors who are willing to forgo liquidity and put capital at risk for an indefinite period of time.

9The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
