Welcome

We are a seven-member wealth management team led by three highly experienced Financial Advisors, Christi Edwards, Jason Pharris and David Darst. Our financial advisors are hands-on investment managers with a true passion for their craft and deep commitment to our clients. We provide recommendations based on our clients individual investment goals and risk tolerance.

Our clients are exceptional people. They have built thriving businesses, led major corporations, and achieved extraordinary success in the sports and entertainment industry, all while raising families and contributing to their communities. Such active lives often leave little time to address the many complex challenges of managing the wealth they have created along the way.

Serving as their go-to financial advisors, we help our clients create and implement comprehensive wealth management plans based on their specific needs and goals. We strive to support our clients when they face even the most complex issues. With access to the vast resources of Morgan Stanley, we strive to help our clients preserve and grow their assets, seek to create the legacy they want to leave and support the people, causes and institutions that mean the most to them. We work towards implementing strategies that focus on what is most important to them.

Thanks to the confidence our clients have placed in us, we were named to the list of 2024 Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams, ranking #2 in the state of Tennessee.

About David Darst

Drawing on more than 25 years of diverse financial services experience, David Darst focuses on the investing and wealth planning needs of affluent families and individuals throughout the Southeast. David’s goal is to craft highly customized and fully comprehensive strategies based on each client’s specific needs and aspirations. He has particularly extensive experience working with successful entrepreneurs as they consider personal wealth management strategies related to the monetization of their businesses. As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and a Morgan Stanley Senior Portfolio Manager, David often takes the lead on equity portfolio management, as well as providing guidance on specific private equity, private real estate, hedge fund and other alternative investment strategies for clients when appropriate.

David joined Morgan Stanley in 2016, leveraging years of institutional investing experience to build his wealth management practice. Earlier in his career, David worked as an institutional portfolio manager at Suntrust – Trusco Capital Management.

David’s passion for investing began in high school, when he used the paycheck from a summer job to buy shares in a North Carolina cellular company. David reinvested the proceeds, gaining an important lesson in the power of allowing wealth to compound over time.

The investments listed may not be appropriate for all investors. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC recommends that investors independently evaluate particular investments and encourages investors to seek the advice of a Financial Advisor. The appropriateness of a particular investment will depend upon an investor’s individual circumstances and objectives.

Alternative investments are often speculative and include a high degree of risk. Investors can lose all or a substantial amount of their investment. They may be highly illiquid, can engage in leverage, short-selling and other speculative practices that may increase volatility and the risk of loss, and may be subject to large investment minimums and initial lock-ups. They may involve complex tax structures, tax inefficient investing and delays in distributing important tax information. They may have higher fees and expenses than traditional investments, and such fees and expenses can lower the returns achieved by investors.
