About Robert L. deMuth
Rob began his financial services career in 1987 at T. Rowe Price and has had stops at Merrill Lynch and what is now M&T Bank. He joined Legg Mason in 1998 and worked in the Advisory Portfolio department and the Equity Trading Desk before joining his brother Howard (Andy) deMuth in 2001. Since then, he and Andy have worked collaboratively to advise clients on a wide range of financial issues from portfolio risk management, retirement planning and cash flow analysis, asset allocation, tax management, charitable giving and many more topics that impact affluent investors.
Rob’s primary objective is to keep his clients focused on their long-term financial goals in the face of fluctuating markets and non-stop contradicting viewpoints in financial news. He is a steadying influence who guides enthusiastic clients during up markets and pessimistic clients in down markets. He likes to remind his clients that their investment behavior contributes far more to their returns than the investments they own. This steady even-handed approach is the foundation of his professional success.
Rob graduated from Denison University with a degree in Economics and has a M.B.A. from the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore.
He lives in Baltimore City with his wife Jenny, who is a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Electrophysiology Lab. They have 2 daughters. Their oldest lives in New York City and works at a small public relations firm and their younger daughter recently graduated from college.
