About H. Anderson deMuth
H. Anderson “Andy” deMuth began his career with Legg Mason in 1981 working in various departments of the back office and became a Financial Advisor in the summer of 1982 as the Dow Jones initially crossed 1,000. Andy has previously been on the Legg Mason President’s Council for 11 years and also has been on the Smith Barney President’s Council. Andy has transitioned to the firm through the acquisition of Legg Mason by Smith Barney Citigroup in 2005 and subsequently Morgan Stanley’s acquisition of Smith Barney in 2009. As he likes to say, he has been in the same chair serving the same clients for 43 years.
Andy and his brother Rob joined the Mount Clare Wealth Management Group in the summer of 2025 as their passion for serving their clients coincides with the team values. They desired to merge with a successful team to help ensure their clients can continue to be served in same or better way than they demand of themselves, and their clients have come to expect. This merger is in anticipation of Andy’s retirement in the summer of 2026.
Andy was mentored by several of Legg Mason’s best while he developed his own practice. He has an extensive knowledge of municipal bonds as he was mentored by the head of Legg Mason’s bond department. He also worked alongside successful financial advisors learning both the client management and the investment management end of the business. Andy has the designation of Financial Planning Specialist. He believes they work in a service industry, and it is their job to serve and be available to their clients. Andy is very committed to his clients and can be found in the office most days answering his own phone. He has consistently put his clients first as he helps them to achieve their goals.
Andy has served multiple generations of many families. He is able to effectively understand and communicate with high level executives and family patriarchs and matriarchs. He is also able to engage younger and less sophisticated clients explaining the basics of investing to novices.
Andy and Rob’s goal has always been to learn and understand the client’s needs and to deliver investment guidance and client management that can help produce returns consistent with the clients’ goals in a cost effective and tax efficient manner.
Andy and his wife Lynne split time between Baltimore and Easton. Their son and daughter are married and live in Virginia and California. Outside of work Andy can be found with a racket in his hand on either the tennis, pickle and paddle courts.
