Special Needs overview body

It can be daunting to navigate the complexities of balancing traditional financial planning with a patchwork of benefits and programs to care of families with special needs children or members with disabilities.  A couple of most commonly asked questions include:

* How to make sure there is enough money to meet your disabled child's needs when you are gone?
* How do you leave funds for the benefit of a child without causing the child to lose important public benefits?
* How do you make sure that your other children are not over-burdened with caring for the disabled sibling, and that any burden falls relatively evenly among other siblings?
* Have you created a letter of intent?
* Should you create a Special Needs Trust and when should you fund it?  How should a Special Needs Trust be implemented with a multi-generational estate plan like grandparents or other family members?
* Should you get a Limited Conservatorship of the person, estate, or both?
