About Edward Costello
A Financial Advisor with 30 years of experience, Edward Costello is committed to helping guide clients through difficult financial matters to make informed decisions about retirement. Ed believes that honesty and focusing on the facts are of utmost importance when working with clients, and he sees these principles as foundational to any successful investment strategy or financial plan.
Ed began his career in financial services as a Commercial Loan Officer at National Westminster Bank, where he was responsible for helping find credit solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Working in this capacity instilled in Ed the importance of understanding the complete financial picture of companies, from their revenue and income, to their assets and liabilities, to their cash flows. This knowledge would become invaluable as he transitioned to financial advisory in 1995 at Merrill Lynch, where he would have to understand not only the financial position of companies to invest in, but also the specific financial situation of each client that he served. Ed has continued to rely on these skills after joining Morgan Stanley in 2010 and considers them to be at the core of any recommendation that he makes to clients.
Ed believes education to be a lifelong pursuit that he is committed to. He is a 1990 graduate of Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration concentrating in Marketing, with a Minor in Finance. He also received a Master’s in Theology from St. Joseph’s Seminary in 2016, and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designation from the CFP® Board of Standards, Inc.
Ed is originally from Long Island, New York, but moved upstate in 2019 and settled on Cossayuna Lake. Outside of work, Ed enjoys cooking, traveling, learning, and spending time with his wife Evelyn and their two sons, Jake and Matthew. He also donates his time to St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich, and the Cossayuna Lake Association.

Alternative investments are appropriate only for qualified, long-term investors who are willing to forgo liquidity and put capital at risk for an indefinite period of time.
3Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
