About Ricardo Jofre
Ricky determines investment strategy for the team by relying on his knowledge of asset allocation, portfolio management, technical analysis, alternative investments and more. He has an aptitude for explaining complex investment concepts clearly to clients, because he believes they should know what they own and understand the strategies he is recommending. To that end, he tends to favor streamlined portfolios that implement a few carefully chosen strategies. In addition to building deep relationships with client families, Ricky also seeks to establish professional connections with attorneys and accountants, so that he can serve as a bridge to accessing their expertise in international tax and estate planning.
Ricky has spent his entire career at the firm, having joined Morgan Stanley's predecessor firm, Smith Barney, in 1995. Over the years, he has developed an extensive internal network that he draws upon to access the resources and specialists he needs for the team's clients. Ricky earned a bachelor's degree in international relations with a focus on Latin America from Florida International University, where he learned about and absorbed the cultures shared by many of his clients. He also earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation through the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
The son of Cuban parents, Ricky was born in New Orleans but raised in Miami. Outside the office, Ricky enjoys serving as a manager in his son's soccer team, having previously played competitive soccer as a goalkeeper in various men's leagues. He is also a supporter of Baptist Hospital in Miami and active in the Key Biscayne community.
