Why

Driving us is the satisfaction we enjoy when materially improving the individual lives of our clients and financially preparing them to both meet their aspirations and overcome obstacles along the way. We stand by our clients at all times, preparing them for opportunities and challenges that await them. As stewards of our clients’ wealth, we strive to earn the role of a “dedicated family financial advisors”. Our clients rely on us to do what we say we will do, and we rely on them to communicate to us the changing conditions of their life as “life comes at them”.

In this pursuit, we believe that “conventional wisdom” or “conventional thinking” about most planning and investment topics can be perilous. For example, many investors have been conditioned to believe some version of “higher risk equals higher returns”, that volatility is simply the price one must pay for a bigger pile of money in the future. We do not subscribe to this notion. We believe “not losing the money”, avoiding permanent loss of capital, should be the number one objective for the serious money of serious investors. We believe that doing everything in our power to help reduce the likelihood of large declines in portfolio value is the correct pursuit. In doing so, we seek more consistent, sustainable returns with less volatility than the market averages.

What You Can Expect

1) We start with a multi-generational financial plan which serves as the basis for investment decision-making. We review your plan regularly and track your progress toward your goals. We establish a personal, needs-based benchmark by which to assess overall investment performance.

2) 12-4-2: 12 monthly, scheduled conversations with you. Of those 12 conversations, 4 will be quarterly reviews and 2 of those 4 will ideally be in person.

3) If you have concerns or questions between our monthly meetings, we are committed to responding to you in a timely manner with a goal to resolve issues within 24 hours.

4) Importantly, in order to provide this level of service, we are committed to serving a limited number of clients who trust us, understand our processes and philosophy and will communicate openly and regularly with us in the pursuit of their long and short-term goals.
Core Promises
1) We will implement strategies designed to help consistently and promptly capitalize on the intellectual capital of our firm.

2) We will provide wise diversification across traditional and alternative asset classes as well as diversification across sectors, styles, and methodologies.

3) We will "start with the end in mind" and carefully arrange client portfolios based on goals, spending needs, and emergency plan provisions as well as current and anticipated market conditions.

4) We will teach our clients through regular communication and provide them with an understanding of the investments we have selected. We believe knowledge builds confidence, and confidence can help lead to better results.

5) We will carefully monitor client investments, regularly and opportunistically rebalancing our strategies in an effort to help reduce risk and potentially improve returns.

6) We will monitor our clients' total costs and deliver on our core promises at a reasonable and competitive price.

Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.

Rebalancing does not protect against a loss in declining financial markets. There may be a potential tax implication with a rebalancing strategy. Investors should consult with their tax advisor before implementing such a strategy.

Our Philosophy

We think building wealth starts with not losing. Our investment philosophy begins with a deep respect for the constructive and destructive powers of the stock and bond markets and an understanding that declines in the value of an investment are far more destructive than the same percentage gains are constructive. Understanding this is important. Therefore, we focus first on building durable discretionary portfolios that are designed to display less volatility during declining markets while offering acceptable returns in bull markets. We start with capital preservation in mind. While we agree that panic selling consistently proves to be a losing emotional reaction, we believe avoiding conditions of panic in the first place is more viable. We seek to do everything in our power to help you preserve capital and grow wealth at a responsible and sustainable pace at all times, under all market conditions.

Past performance of any security is not a guarantee of future performance. There is no guarantee that this investment strategy will work under all market conditions.

This material is intended only for clients and prospective clients of the Portfolio Management program. This program is an investment advisory program in which the client's Financial Advisor invests the client's assets on a discretionary basis in a range of securities. The Portfolio Management program is described in the applicable Morgan Stanley ADV Part 2, available through the link below or through contacting your Financial Advisor.

As a Naval Aviator during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield, from the aircraft carriers USS Tarawa and USS Tripoli, Clyde flew over 50 assault support helicopter missions and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Navy Air Medal and the Humanitarian Service Award.

Clyde and his wife, Lara, live in Lexington with their two teenage children, Megan and Sean, and together enjoy a wide range of health, sports and fitness activities.
