My Story

Sudden wealth—an abrupt influx of a large sum of money—typically comes from a legal settlement, sale of a business or significant life event, such as a divorce or the death of a loved one. In my experience, sudden wealth can be a double-edged sword, causing clients to feel financially secure yet anxious about the financial responsibility on such a large scale. That’s where my team and I come in, helping clients through every decision when it comes to managing, preserving and maximizing their newfound wealth.

My first encounter with sudden wealth was many years ago, when a dear friend, an attorney whose life’s work is helping families of children with special needs, asked me to help one of his clients. Having just received a large legal settlement, the client couple was overwhelmed with having to make difficult decisions about caring for their child, immediately and for her lifetime. I was deeply moved by my experience with the family and inspired by their courage and dedication to their child. It was a privilege to help them through this process and bring them comfort knowing their family now had a secure and sustainable financial future with trusted partners to help them manage it over a lifetime.

Since then, I’ve helped hundreds of individuals and families manage and sustain their wealth, providing answers to questions such as: How can I use the money to take care of my loved one? How can I make it last a lifetime? What are the tax and regulatory implications? Does it affect my health care or Social Security status? Who will care for my family when I am no longer here?

In addition to families who have experienced sudden wealth or who have special needs, we work with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and multigenerational family wealth throughout life’s many stages, helping them plan for and manage their wealth. I particularly enjoy helping other women and empowering them with confidence in their financial journeys. Together with a group of associated specialists, my team and I help our clients make thoughtful decisions and strategic wealth plans, and we do so with compassion, respect and care.
