About Chad Detienne

Chad H. DeTienne, CIMA®, CRPC® is an Executive Director, Financial Advisor, Branch Manager, and Senior Portfolio Management Director. He begin his career in 1998 after graduating from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Business Administration in the field of Finance. Chad is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®), professional focusing on investment management consulting, portfolio construction with performance analysis and risk monitoring. He is also a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM® (CRPC®) designee, focusing on wealth accumulation and preservation strategies, wealth utilization, and wealth transfer. Chad’s primary responsibilities include the day to day management of portfolios for all clients, managing client relationships, overseeing the team’s operational needs, and shaping the team’s strategic direction. Chad has been named to Barron’s Top 1000 Advisors list in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015. Chad lives in Grand Forks ND with his wife, Shauna and their two daughters, Addison and Chloe. He grew up playing hockey, is a former youth hockey coach, while still playing “Old Timers” hockey. Chad enjoys spending free time with his family and being at the lake while spending time outdoors.

About Tanner Moen

Tanner Moen is a Financial Planning Specialist & Portfolio Management Associate at Morgan Stanley. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Tanner grew up in Baudette, MN at his family owned fishing resort on the Rainy River and later moved to Fargo, ND and began working for his father’s construction company. Tanner received his B.B.A from UND with a major in Banking and Financial Economics. Tanner worked at Gate City Bank before joining Morgan Stanley in 2016. During his time at Morgan Stanley he assisted the team and their clients before becoming a Financial Advisor in 2018 and later rejoined the DeTienne/Mercil group in 2020. Tanner is an active member of the community via The Chamber, UND Champions Club, Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals, and Prior-President of the Downtown Rotary Club. Tanner and his wife Shyanne welcomed their first child, Noah, in Dec 2023 and enjoy spending time outdoors, whether at local parks, or traveling to National Parks in the US and Canada. When able, they bring their two fur children Leo and Loki.

About Whitley Fedt

Whitley Fedt is a Portfolio Associate at Morgan Stanley. Whitley grew up in a suburb of the Twin Cities, then attended the University of North Dakota. Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2019, Whitley worked as a Loan Officer/Underwriter, at a local Credit Union, and as an Assistant Branch Manager, at U.S. Bank. Whitley enjoys spending time at her camper, gardening and adventuring with her dogs, Hank and Hazel and cat, Haddie.

About Mamta Shah

Mamta Shah is the Trust Specialist based in Chicago, covering the Midwest Region. Morgan Stanley provides a full array of personal and institutional trust services to high net worth clients of the firm. Mamta’s responsibilities include educating Financial Advisors and their clients on the open architecture trust service model and helping them identify opportunities to leverage the trust partners on the platform.

Before joining Trust Services in 2010, she was the Wealth Analyst with the Chicago based Wealth Planning Center at Morgan Stanley. Mamta was responsible for providing information and education on a full range of income and estate tax topics and concerns.

Prior to joining the Planning Center team in 2006, Mamta was Vice President of an Independent Investment Advisory Firm. She worked closely with the clients of the firm on a variety of financial planning and investment advisory services.

Mamta obtained her bachelor’s degree from Babson College with a major in Finance/Entrepreneurship. Mamta is a licensed CPA and holds a CFP® designation, She has been in the financial services industry since 1999. She is Series 7, 63, 65 and life/health insurance licensed. She is a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. She lives in Chicago with her family.

About Lynn King

Lynn R. King is a Family Office Resource Generalist for the Mid-America region. She has over 15 years of experience working with families, family offices, and their attorneys, CPAs and financial advisors on issues unique to the UHNW client. Lynn started her career as an attorney in Illinois working with closely held businesses across the country on a broad range of topics, including entity structuring, estate planning, business succession and tax. She then joined New York Life Insurance as a Corporate Vice President in their Advanced Planning Group. In this role she expanded on her experience from private practice and engaged with clients on complex business and personal planning needs.
Lynn joined Morgan Stanley in September of 2020. As the Family Office Resource Generalist, Lynn provides advice and strategies to UHNW families. To that end, she assists families with the creation of family mission statements. She also educates adults and children on how to be good stewards of generational wealth. She engages with resources in philanthropy, wealth and estate planning and trust management to ensure the UHNW clients of the Firm are able to accomplish their goals.
Lynn received her undergraduate degree in Finance and Political Science from the University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign. She attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois where she obtained her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and is licensed to practice law in Illinois. She also holds her Series 7 and 66.
