Your needs and goals are critical components of our advisory relationship. Your financial future begins with a conversation about you, your family, your business, your finances, your previous investment experiences and your goals. Understanding your priorities and preferences is key for customizing a plan that helps maximize your opportunities and minimize your risks.
Plan
Once we understand your full financial picture, we develop a personalized plan that addresses not only your investment needs, but also other facets of your financial life, from cash management, personal and business lending, and investment banking to estate planning strategies and engaging the next generation.
Execute
Upon your approval of the plan, we utilize our extensive networks and the full resources of Morgan Stanley to put your plan in motion. Once invested, we work with you to help eliminate pitfalls by managing the emotional and cognitive investor errors that are common during the extremes of capital markets euphoria and panic. We also help you identify and seize potential capital market opportunities as they emerge.
Monitor
We proactively, carefully and continually monitor your progress. As your life unfolds, and as capital markets conditions and your portfolio evolve, we will recommend adjustments that help keep you on pace to achieve your stated goals.

9Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
